Some people say it's a dildo. I've seen the picture (Penthouse published it years ago) and I vote dildo.

Those rumours were widely known in the 80's. Today's kids never heard of most of that shit. I don't know much about any controversies involving actors before the mid to late 70's.

Gere rumor was in 1990. In Living Color's Men on Film made a reference to the Gere gerbil then subsequently removed it from future showings for fear of libel. Howard Stern asked Cindy Crawford about it post divorce & she said she had no knowledge of his fetish, but really didn't adamantly dispute it.

I always heard the penis belonged to actor Wally Cox who Brando was very close to. After Cox died, Brando stole his ashes from the wake. Rumors claim that after Brando died, the ashes were mixed together (along with another friend) and scattered in Death Valley.

Along the same lines, but maybe better known, is that Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones were college roommates.

Maybe this thread should be retitled "interesting movie facts that everyone but Solid Snake knows."

If you were born in the late 80s or 90s your chances of never hearing about the Gere rumour is common; he isn`t that popular today.

I've got the CD of the Alex North 2001 score and I like it. The music is great but... imagining 2001 with that soundtrack makes me cringe.

2001 is one of those fantastic films that is truly timeless… partly because the FX were excellent and still hold up to anything made since, but particularly due to the use of classical music.

North's score is just all over the place and would have horribly dated the film. IMO, 2001 would have been universally panned had it been released with it.

Kubrick made the right decision. I'd like to think it was a no-brainer for him.

Solid Snake's generation would probably be more likely to know about Rod Stewart rumor/myth with Lil Kim substituted for Stewart.

I remember as a kid hearing about that Richard Gere rumor and thinking it was a real thing. Everyone talked about it like it was fact, as if was a fetish /practice that had some basis in reality. Hard to believe adults talked about it as if could possibly true.

There is also a very thin line between facts and shit made up by other people years ago who then claimed it was true.

Re: Little known but very interesting movie facts.

maybe not really interesting to anyone else but i just recently (like, yesterday) realized the guy in the back saying "unless you got POWWAAAHH! AHAHAHA" is Jason Scott Lee. I always remember that line because it was so over the top on it's delivery.

Only two animated Disney films have families where both parents are present throughout the film AND neither parent dies. Peter Pan and 101 Dalmatians.

Mulan has both a mother and a father at start and finish.

I don't think Sleeping Beauty's parents die.

Depends how you define "parents". Lady and the Tramp comes to mind.

There was the human baby the dogs saved from the rats. Parents lived in that.

When I was a kid, the Rock Hudson & Jim Nabors being lovers was the big rumor.
