Joseph Bologna - RIP King Kaiser

Joseph Bologna passed away on Sunday (8/13) after a battle with pancreatic cancer. (He actually survived for three years with it...)

I'll always remember him for his fantastic performance as TV variety star, King Kaiser in My Favorite Year (it's a great movie, too).

R.I.P. King.

I also thought he was a hoot in The Big Bus, an underappreciated Airplane-esque comedy.

.

Also, a guilty pleasure of mine, mostly for Michelle Johnson's hooters, but Caine and Bologna were also amusing.

RIP Joe.

Also, I'm really glad to hear I'm not the only "Blame it on Rio" fan here. Love that movie. I even have the soundtrack on vinyl.

I wish I had seen him in more!

He was on that spin-off from Married With Children with Matt LeBlanc -- it sucked, but they made 1 season out of it I think.

I remember him best from his early 70s output - namely Cops and Robbers and The Big Bus. I haven't seen much of his 80s output other than The Woman in Red and Transylvania 6-5000. Looks like I'll have to check out Blame It On Rio sometime.

RIP

I remember that also. It was cancelled after about 7 episodes. Matt essentially went directly to Friends with that same character at least for the first few episodes of Friends. Same jacket and haircut for the very first episode of Friends.

Enjoyed his work in The Big Bus, Blame it on Rio, and Transylvania 6-5000. Pancreatic cancer sucks...

If you want some extra fun with it, take a drink every time his character asks a question.
