Ehhhh. The Amazons liked to fuck like anyone else. In mythology, especially .

It wasn't meant as a criticism of the idea of depicting homosexuality or bisexuality of any kind in the film. If the filmmakers choose do that for any reason, that's obviously completely fine. I'm not uncomfortable with the idea and it could add depth to the character. I'm just wondering what purpose it would serve narratively, and would rather hope that if it's in the film, it'll be more than just cheap titilation.

Because perhaps physical intercourse and romantic love can exist both inclusively and exclusively? Holy fuck why does this even need explaining...

Yes, I'm well aware of that, my point was that existence of sexuality in immortal people didn't make a tremendous amount of sense under the theory of evolution. Granted, that may not be an issue since we're talking about a magical fantasy group of people who only exist in comic books, but that's no fun.

Even culturally out of the comics... these gods and the real world cultures to make them have always loved to fuck. Sexuality is part of that world. Not a dominant overage but these people loved to fuck and didn't suppress it either.

Re: Wonder Woman (2017, D: Patty Jenkins,) S: Gadot, Pine

Nothing big, but the villain has been confirmed to be

Spoiler:

Ares

Diana Prince should have plenty to keep her busy in Wonder Woman, what with World War I going on and all. But it looks like humanity won’t be the only looming threat in the movie. A new report confirms the true identity of the Wonder Woman villain, after months of rumor and speculation.
French magazine Studio Ciné Live paid a visit to the Italian set of Wonder Woman last year, and just recently published a full report of what they saw. Among other things, they reveal that the big bad of Wonder Woman will be Ares. While the article does not appear to be online yet, Les Toiles Héroïques (via ComicBook.com) transcribed some key passages. All the excerpts below have been translated from French to English via Google; please forgive any clumsy wording and keep in mind that some details may have been lost or mutated in translation.
First, here’s a little bit about how Chris Pine‘s Steve Trevor gets involved in the story:
I play a pilot who works for the Allies and spies on the Germans without their knowledge. My character steals a notebook filled with scientific formulas in an Ottoman base. He steals a plane but is shot down in the open sea.
Apparently, these scientific formulas are for a deadly gas that could wipe out humanity. They are of particular interest to Ares, the god of war, who harbors a grudge against humankind. Here’s more from Studio Ciné Live:
Why did Zeus create the Amazons? Ares is one of the biggest hits in the world. To restore harmony between them, Zeus created the Amazons that Ares reduced to slavery. The Amazons revolt with the help of Zeus, who will die of the hand of his son having had time to find Themyscira, their haven of peace. (…) Diana Prince becomes Wonder Woman by helping Steve Trevor and a squad of proud arm-in-law in search of one who wants to wipe humanity off the map with deadly gas.
It’s long been rumored that Ares would be the big bad of Wonder Woman, but until now we haven’t had any real confirmation. Still unclear is who is playing Ares. The trailers made it look like Danny Huston could be the main villain, but he seems to be playing a human. Or maybe he’s Ares disguised as a human?

Re: Wonder Woman (2017, D: Patty Jenkins,) S: Gadot, Pine

Ugh, that's expected but disappointing. Concerning the villain:
Spoiler:

Ares is a god whose power is fed by war. As long as he is "powered up," he can basically do ANYTHING -- warp time and space, become invulnerable, increase his size, bounce around dimensions, etc., etc. As such, I've always found him a boring character (too powerful to be interesting) and never understood how Wonder Woman stood a chance against him. He should basically be able to snuff her out with a thought, unless she was able to unite the entire world in a round of "Kumbaya."

I really hope the sequel (when and if) will feature someone more interesting and on more of a level playing field power-wise, like Cheetah.

Yeah, in literal and traditional theory, but this is a comic book movie. His version will probably have rules that he'll have to follow just like the characters in
Spoiler:
Clash/Wrath of the Titans.

I scanned through the pages of this thread and may have missed it but why is this movie taking place in WWI and not WWII?

Not sure if there was an exact reason, but probably to avoid comparisons to Captain America. That's my guess.

Wonder Woman 1 takes place during World War I. Wonder Woman 2 will take place during WWII. Symmetry.
