I'm willing to bet that Loki will take the role Mephisto had in the Infinity Gauntlet series.

I figure Loki either plays the role of Dr. Doom. Granted it's the same end game but I can't see Thanos having Loki around after fumbling in Avengers

My issue with using Loki like that is that Marvel will again use Loki as a crutch. That'd be 4 movies with Loki. Their only successful villain. I love MCU Loki cuz Hiddleston is just so goddamn entertaining. Marvel needs to really create great villains. They've failed at it. They've been effective objectives for our hero but they themselves have no depth. Nebula had a personality but she wasn't used much. Amazingly they've made the heroes so goddamn strong as characters, except for Hawkeye, that their foes aren't as dramatically strong. They all look cool but they have no soul really outside mainly Loki who chews up the scenery more and more to the greatness of being so wonderfully entertaining at being Loki.

Thats a good call. But why couldn't they actually use Mephisto? I believe Marvel has the right to Ghost Rider back now and so along with that comes Mephisto. He could be a great character to use. Introduce him through the Doctor Strange movie. Then, as someone mentioned, have Loki as the Doctor Doom role. Could be great.

They could use Mephisto, but there hasn't been any set up for him, and the whole idea of him and hell in the Marvel universe might be a little too out there, even for a crazy cosmic story like Infinity War.

True, the idea of a devil in the CMU may be a little out there (but a talking raccoon and duck are not?). Perhaps whatever mystical foe that Doctor Strange faces in his movie could be planted in that role. Dormammu maybe?

This makes me somewhat sad cuz they're using Loki as much as they can. It's kind of character crutch for them. I do love the character though. He's A+ awesome. Hiddleston is one of the best things for the MCU. Unfortunately... all the other baddies are nowhere near as developed as him.
It looks like everyone's favorite villain, Loki, is going to be back in a big way in the third phase of Marvel's cinematic universe. According to Digital Spy, Marvel President Kevin Feige says that Loki will be "heavily" featured in both Thor: Ragnarok and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.
It's no surprise that Tom Hiddleston would be back to reprise his role as Loki in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok movie. I think we all expected that. After all, the last time we saw him in Thor: The Dark World he had taken the form of Odin and persuaded Thor to return to Earth and be with Jane Foster. The storyline for Ragnarok is sure to play a decent sized role in leading us into the two part movie Avengers: Infinity War. Especially since Loki's scepter has one of the Infinity Stones that Thanos needs for his Infinity Gauntlet to wreck havoc on the future Avengers team.
Loki lost his scepter after he failed to take over Earth, and it's now in the possession of HYDRA's Baron von Strucker. The Other, who was killed by Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy, warned Loki that there would be consequences if he failed Thanos, and as you saw in The Avengers, Thanos ended up losing a lot of his army, one of the Infinity Stones, and the Tesseract. It will be interesting to see how Loki fits into the story, but he could either be trying to win back Thanos' loyalty, or he will help fight against him. What side do you think he'll land on?
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on July 28th, 2017, while Avengers: Infinity Part 1 will come out the following year on May 4th, 2018, before Part 2 follows on May 3rd, 2019.

My theory on how Loki is involved in the upcoming movies:
In any case, I welcome more Loki. Great characters will only make great movies better.

The Russo Brothers may be directing this: http://deadline.com/2014/11/daniel-b...ns-1201284648/
The Russos are building up their Marvel cred with this all-star outing, and I keep hearing they will step up to the ultimate Marvel all-star team and take the reins of The Avengers franchise from Joss Whedon, possibly with that next film that will shoot back to back.

Yeah. It's been rumored since Feige was at that con. Maybe a bit before, can't remember. Not sure how I feel about that. They knocked it out of the park w/ Cap 2. Really looks like Whedon upped his game for the Avengers sequel. I also wonder if Whedon would be writing it at least. I can't imagine that Feige would totally want Whedon away.
Gunn has also said that GotG2 won't set up the Infinity War films. Which is interesting.

Were any of the Phase 2 movies really a direct setup for Age of Ultron? I'm sure GOTG 2 will plant a few seeds, and may have another cameo by Thanos, but will not be a glorified Infinity War prequel.
I believe that Infinity War Part 1 will be based on "Thanos Quest" with that movie focusing on the assembly of the stones. The Avengers will try to stop him and fail. Infinity War Part 2 will be like "Infinity Gauntlet" and have Thanos at full power which will require *all* of the cinematic universe heroes to stop him.

Loki is great, but i'd rather he not play a large role in all these movies and hope that there are other villains to carry the load.

Its gonna be a real battle royal in these two movies. I agree with the poster that suggested the first movie could play like the Thanos Quest and the second being the Infinity Gauntlet. But there will be lots of characters all battling to take or destroy the Infinity Stones. The Avengers and the rest of the earth bound heroes which will include the new additions in the upcoming sequel as well as Black Panther, Ant Man and Captain Marvel. The Asgardians headed by Thor. The Guardians of the Galaxy. Potentially the Inhumans. And it seems Loki and Nebula will be causing havoc. There could potentially be even the Defenders as i presume the Netflix shows will have all finished by that time (but doubt they will appear). Also i have a feeling that they will have to get Adam Warlock in there for sure. Be interesting to see who they get for that role.
The Russos did a great job with Winter Soldier, but part of me would love for Whedon to finished his turn with Marve directing with the Infinity War movies.

90% of movies have always been shit.
Well maybe not but most likely something like that. There has been over saturation since long before all of us. This isn't new. What is new is that a smaller genre getting so much exposure in so little time. It can seem like over saturation but the numbers don't add up to it.

Oh, that's from The Electric Company? Weird seeing the Vanisher there since he was a minor X-Men villain.

In another batch of leaked Sony e-mails, Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed that they will be directing Avengers: Infinity War Parts I and II, according to Overtice (via Screen Rant, who did the translation).
Apparently, as part of the ongoing saga of Sony e-mails about the Spider-Man situation, Joe Russo chimed in with a message to Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal in early November, saying that it was too bad the talks with Marvel had broken down.
The reports further claim that Russo confirmed in that email exchange that he and his brother are directing Infinity War -- the third and fourth Avengers films -- for Marvel but that it won't prevent them directing The Gray Man for Sony after Civil War and before The Avengers.
A further e-mail later in November also reportedly suggested that the brothers could produce Spider-Man movies going forward, with the idea that it would force out Sony's Spider-Man guru Avi Arad and be part of a larger plan to work more closely with Marvel.

I just thought of something. Does Whedon own the Buffy the Vampire Slayer rights? If so, they should bring Buffy into the MCU. Marvel has the Blade rights back. They could do a Buffy/Blade crossover.
