I guess I didn't even consider Jarvis as he's just an AI prior to becoming Vision. I still don't really have a problem with these since most I hardly remembered because they were short lived and resolved in their respective films shortly (except Loki in the first Thor who's death was a cliffhanger).

It has to really serve the story and not just be done because people want it to happen.
I agree it has to serve the story, but I know I felt like Quicksilver and Rhodey were cop outs.

How so? Particularly Rhodey I would say was pretty impactful. He's been a character that we've known for a while and it's not something that was just brushed under the rug. He didn't die but it's still a life altering event for him to be paralyzed. Quicksilver was a bit more of a minor character to kill off since we weren't attached to him.

Does Jarvis count? Even though he has Jarvis' voice, I thought Vision was something unique.

I count him. Jarvis was thought destroyed by Ultron, and then later is was found that he still exists and had been changing the nuclear codes to keep Ultron from getting them.

So yes, Vision is a commination of Jarvis and "something else", but Jarvis was thought dead and then discovered alive BEFORE he was downloaded into the Vision android.

Rhodey didn't impact me at all, I thought the paralysis was just a weak attempt to highlight the "high" stakes I mentioned before without the balls to go further. If they actually expanded on the impact to the character in further movies, I might change my mind but without any standalone Iron Man movies coming soon I doubt they will.

And Quicksilver was basically nothing and unimportant to me, since we were just introduced to him in the same movie and there wasn't any real impact following his death.

Obviously not everyone will agree, but to me it's pretty clear and obvious why there are movie goers that are always wondering if a main hero will die.

re: Avengers: Infinity War (4/27/18) D: The Russo Bros.

Here's the thing though, realistically neither Marvel or DC is ever going to permanently kill a main character off. They may sit out for a while or same actor or actress may not return but that type of a storyline is always eventually going to be retconned. It's just the nature of how these films and the comics they're based on work. There's too much to lose by writing characters completely out and it looks stupid to kill a character off and bring them back right away (like Superman in Justice League). I understand the criticism but I think it's something that has to be accepted by fans of the genre.

Wiki says this takes place four years after GOTG 2, so is that also four years after Spider-Man Homecoming?

My guess is the Mind gem gives Vision a soul. Minus the gem, the Jarvis AI will probably take full control.

Red Skull didn't Die, right? I always thought he was transported to another dimension from the Tesseract. I've been waiting for his return. lol

As mentioned in the Homecoming thread, Homecoming's exact timeline is quite unclear.

It supposedly takes place 8 years after the events of the 1st Avengers movie (because of a big ass title card graphic) ,which is circa 2011/12. That would make Homecoming taking place around 2019/2020. That throws off everything and makes no sense. Because this movie is definitely stamped as taking place in 2018.

However, we got a few posters in Homecoming who said I don't get a flying fuck about the timeline, just go with it and enjoy the movie.

Nick Fury actually appeared in the 1st season and Agents of Shield and interacted directly with Coulson. He knows that Coulson is alive.

The first couple of seasons tried to tie in the show to the movies, especially after Winter Soldier. But now they have slowly phased out linking the two entities.

I don't think he's definitively dead. I'd like him to come back at some point.

re: Avengers: Infinity War (4/27/18) D: The Russo Bros.

Apparently some clips leaked online, although I haven't spent any time looking for them. Looks like we might get a teaser or trailer soon though.

https://www.polygon.com/2017/11/27/1...rothers-marvel

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are back to their old tricks, teasing the much anticipated Avengers: Infinity War trailer on Instagram with an ominous image.

The Russo Brothers posted a somewhat disturbing photo of an animated giant number 3 in a ridiculous pose. The photo doesn’t come with an accompanying caption, but after clips from the Infinity War trailer leaked online this past weekend, it’s evident what the Instagram post is alluding to.
