Fucking Krasinski, man... lucky bastard. Ironically, one of the final contenders for Cap.

Marvel wants Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel?

On the high of her latest directorial effort Unbroken, word on the street is that Jolie just received a gargantuan offer to direct Captain Marvel. According to the February issue of OK! Magazine, the executives at Marvel Studios were so impressed by her handling of the material in the above-mentioned biographical drama that they have offered her a whopping $20 million to direct their first female-led film. While reports say Jolie is seriously considering the offer, no official deal has been struck.

What?
Uhhhhh. I dunno about that. I've not been very impressed by her directing. Was unbroken anything special in its directing?

That sounds utter rubbish to me. Marvel are known to low ball their talent and offering $20 million to a director is unheard of. Even the worlds greatest directors tend to only get a few million for their gigs (unless they have back end or are also on the production side). This sounds just plain silly.

I call bullshit. Yea they may want a female director, but it's going to be who they cast as the lead that can "make or break the entire future of female-led superhero films." $20 million upfront is absurd. General public didn't give a shit who directed any of the Marvel films.

I call bullshit as well, $20m for directing isn't happening and they need to just have Bigelow direct it. Or just bring Reese Witherspoon on as a producer, she seems to be doing well with that.

Give Lexi Alexander another try.
I really liked Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown... Catherine Hardwicke maybe...? but fuck Twilight...
Maybe get Mimi Leder return to features. Or... like Wonder Woman is doing... look to TV directors (which is were Leder is now a days). Lesli Linka Glatter or Gwyneth Horder-Payton maybe?

Yeah I can't see Marvel giving this to Jolie. There's no real reason to as she's not really known for being a director and I don't see why they'd offer her that much up front to direct this. Plus Marvel doesn't really seem to go for known names to direct these films which with Jolie there wouldn't really be a reason to go for her other than the name value. Which again she's known more for acting.

If you are referring to Punisher Warzone, I am sorry to disagree, but that movie was as a real stinker. Amazing to think the Lundgren version is still the best.
For me Bigelow would be a great choice, but she seems to stray away from action and her choices of movie are now more political thrillers. Would be great for if it were Bigelow from 20 years ago.
Another choice I would say is maybe Mary Harron. I think she did a great job with American Psycho.

Do you know what she had to do on that thing? How little power she actually had?
The fact that her action was so damn good with what was going on is fucking amazing. That thing had great action.

Now there's talk that Angelina Jolie may be playing the Captain herself, as well as directing the feature.

No way.
And there's no "talk". It's one website writing an article asking the question "what if?" Nothing more than that.
