Natalie Portman looks so embarassed to be in these movies. She is gritting her teeth for these million dollar paycheques.

For a million dollars, I'd be willing to be in a stupid movie.

Apparently it's fashionable to bash Thor movies in this thread. Regrettably I can't participate in the thrashing, I enjoyed both Thor movies, looking forward to Ragnarok...

I enjoyed both as well but they're got a lot of issues and are the weakest of the solo Avenger movies. If Hiddleston wasn't in them... they'd take an even greater blow in quality.

I enjoyed both Thor movies, even though I didn't really know what the hell was going on in the second one.

Didn't like the first all that much; liked the second one though. I can't say I am really jazzed for part 3. Probably a rental...I have become more selective in my MCU films recently as far as them being a must see in the theater.

I'm pretty much going for Hiddleston at this point. Which is a shame cuz I really liked the Thor comics.

The first Captain America (First Avenger) flick is the weakest. Even weaker than both Thor movies.

I've actually always liked the first Thor film even though it gets shit on quite a bit. I thought the fish out of water storyline worked well. The Dark World is weaker but still not terrible.

I enjoy both Thor movies too, but I think we've rehashed the Marvel movie rankings enough in every Marvel movie thread . Branagh coming back would be pretty cool.

I think Rogers origin up to and including his first behind the lines rescue is some of the strongest material in any of the MU films. Unfortunately the rest of the film isn't up to that. Not even close.

I would also say that the Avengers films and Winters Soldier wouldn't work nearly as well without that background.

The Avengers films and Winter Soldier work well without First Avenger for me. Winter Soldier is still my favorite of MCU flicks.

Well, I for one am glad that I got to see Rogers strength of character and self sacrifice play out, rather than just having other characters tell me he has those qualities in later films.

Pretty much. ONCE cap goes montage mode it takes a walk into nothing surprising. I totally would have dug it if Cap kept like a revised version of what he wore in that rescue, ala The Ultimates.

Cap 2 though raised the bar for the MCU though. It FULLY implemented what that character was. It was pretty cool having a Terminator style villain too. Winter Soldier was pretty damn cool.

Re: Thor: Ragnarok (11/3/2017) - News, rumors, etc.

I liked the first Thor much more than the second.

I just noticed that Alan Taylor (Thor 2 director) is also the Terminator Genisys director... will be interesting to see how he does.

As for Portman, I like her, but if she doesn't want to come back, I'm sure there are other hot women in the ThorVerse they can bring in.

Well Black Widow has already gotten with Cap, Hawkeye, and Hulk so maybe Thor can be next.

More embarrassed than in the Star Wars prequels?

I like the first Thor movie a lot. The second Thor movie is just OK. Not bad, not great, just OK.

I'll still go to see Thor 3 when it comes out. And I love Natalie Portman in the Thor movies.

The first is interesting for the novelty value of being directed bygone Kenneth Branagh and having a vaguely King Lear-inflected narrative and some of Branagh's usual colorful trappings, even if it's basically just a usual origin story. The second was made by someone who usually makes TV, and it really shows. It feels perfunctory, muddled, and the fantasy trappings feel sub-Peter Jackson, IMO.
