Cabin Fever remake (2016, D: Zariwny) - with the original 2002 script for some reason

Re: Cabin Fever remake... with the original 2002 script for some reason
One thing I always liked about the original was seeing Rider Strong from Boy Meets World in a totally different kind of role. I always sort of wondered why he hasn't done more acting as I always thought he was decent and pretty much the main part of that series that I liked.

I just got home from the theater, and ended up really liking it. The biggest differences its setting is a lake house instead of a cabin close to the lake, the gore is more over the top, and played more serious as opposed to the comedy in the original. Also I would say the ending is different enough that its not the same exact movie. Plus its a pretty gorgeously shot movie, I would definately recommended it.

God this was awful and worse yet, pointless. The characters were also utterly unlikable.

Honestly, I don't think I've even seen any other Roth picture. I thought Cabin Fever was actually pretty clever horror flick that worked because it played on emotion (paranoia) more than splatter (hence the title). I tried watching Hostel and shut it off because it was just gore for the sake of gore. I've never heard anything different about any of his other projects.
As for this remake, I'd rather see the suspense dialed up and the gore dialed down. Based on the comments here, I may catch it on streaming but I'm in no hurry and won't move it to the top of my list.
