Pixar's Inside Out (6/19/2015)
Couldn't find an existing thread on this in a search. Teaser is out today. Pete Doctor is directing, who directed Monster's Inc and Up.
Description from their website:

Random, but I also didn't realize the next movie after this The Good Dinosaur is out in November 2015. Weird that there's two Pixar movies in the same year, but I guess nothing came out this year in 2014, first time since 2005 that there wasn't a Pixar movie released during the year. Finding Dory isn't until 2016.
Description from their website:
Inside Out
U.S. Release Date: June 19, 2015
From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy AwardŽ-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all - inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city,
house and school.
Director: Pete Docter
Co-Director: Ronnie del Carmen
Producer: Jonas Rivera

Surprisingly high concept for them.
When I saw the still, I was instantly reminded of:

I was thinking the same thing - two! cool...
I had remembered reading that 'The Good Dinosaur' was supposed to come out this year - but something happened and then it got pushed forward a year, that's why we are getting a double whammy of Pixar goodness.

For The Good Dinosaur:
By summer 2013, the director and producer had been removed from the film due to the story problems.[1] Peterson, who couldn't crack the film's third act,[14] was notably absent at D23 Expo, where Sohn and producer Denise Ream presented footage from the film.[15][16] Ed Catmull, Pixar's president, explained the departure: "All directors get really deep in their film. Sometimes you just need a different perspective to get the idea out. Sometimes directors ... are so deeply embedded in their ideas it actually takes someone else to finish it up."[1] Peterson moved on to another project he is developing at Pixar, while Ream replaced Walker, who left to work on Tomorrowland. John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Sohn stepped in temporarily to work on various sections of the film.[1] In September 2013, The Good Dinosaur had been pushed back from May 30, 2014 to November 25, 2015 (the scheduled release date for Finding Dory) to "give the film some more time."[3] In November 2013, due to the delay, Pixar laid off 67 employees of its 1,200-person workforce,[14] following the closure of Pixar Canada a month before, when about 80 employees had been laid off, officially to refocus Pixar's efforts at its main headquarters.[17] In August 2014, John Lithgow revealed in an interview that the film had been dismantled and "completely reimagined" and is expected to re-record his role in the next month while mentioning that Frances McDormand was still part of the film.[18]

that was a cop out / money grab of a film ... totally pointless. Even 'Monsters University' felt like Pixar was pandering to the masses, with something NOT new.

Am I wrong to think this short would have been better in front of Moana?

Cars 2, Brave, and Monsters University have been Pixar's weakest films to date which is hilarious as Walt Disney Animation Studios have been on a roll since The Princess and the Frog.

Looks like a return to form for Pixar. We shall see.
I think Pixar should go back to doing one film every 2-3 years. The same with Walt Disney Animation Studios. Focus on quality rather than output. Even better, have each studio do a film every 2 years, and then alternate releases every Christmas season.

Based on what? Four, 15 second character snippets? Not impressed by those at all. Sad character walks into frame, sighs and walks back. Wow.
The teaser doesn't give us anything either. It's off balance. Too many clips of what Pixar once was. Selling us on their past, not the movie at hand, which is apparently Herman's Head; the cartoon. Yes, it's only a teaser, but it still feels all wrong.

Surprised I never saw this thread before. That trailer looks okay but I'm really not feeling it (no pun intended).
