Just have a soft spot for animals. Cried like a baby at the end of Jurassic Bark and the dog wasn't even physically hurt...and it's a cartoon...

what? I seriously read that as Jurassic Park and I honestly tried to remember a dog in there. Bark? Turns out it as a Futurama episode. I remember the ending and it was well deserved. I remember getting sad... I think.

Lol...I think I remember a dog in Jurassic Park somewhere but yeah, I meant Futurama. Shit stuck with me.

I'm fine with countless people getting shot and maimed, but kick one puppy. That's where I draw the line.
Before anyone gets their panties in a twist, I get where you animal lovers are coming from. I just find it interesting that you are objecting to a small bit of animal cruelty in what looks to be a pretty violent against humans movie. By the way, I still can't watch THAT scene in Benji.

I'm eager to see this, curious to see how well the Rotten Tomato meter holds up. Only 17 reviews so far, but all positive.

Reviews seem to be holding up, still at 91% at the moment, 32-4. Looks like i'll be checking this out this weekend.

B movie/genre pics done right seem to get a lot of critical love these days, The Guest had a similarly high 93%

I'd really like to see this take the top spot this weekend, but I'm guessing both the horrible title and Keanu's past couple poor performances at the B.O. are going to hurt this.
Maybe word of mouth will keep it around for a few weeks.

A friend of mine got to see an advance screening the other night and she told me she loved it. Hopefully this will get good word of mouth.

But the ads/trailers aren't nearly as shitty as they were for Dredd, so I guess we'll see.

Sounds like this is basically in the same mold as the dozens of Issac Florentine/Koichi Sakamoto/Kurt Anderson/Jeff Pruitt kind of stuff that was all over VHS racks back in the 1990s action glory days, but this time on 900 screens because the production values are so much easier to gloss up when it's shot in 4K. The digital age is an amazing thing. Sounds like this'll be right up my alley, I'll probably check it out if I manage to fucking survive through work this weekend. Maybe I'll hit up my local LIEMAX.

Saw an 8:00pm showing. Wanted to go to IMAX, but my friends didn't want to pay the extra surcharge.
It was a fucking blast and one of the best slow burn action films in years.

Also... the cast was all kinds of awesome. I loved them all.

I just came back from it and it is badass. Some random thoughts I had while watching it were this is the Max Payne movie we never got, the directors (one of them was billed as a producer due to union rules) should direct a Punisher movie, it's great to see Keanu fight Daniel Bernhardt (back in the 90's he was known as the poor man's Van Damme and you might remember him from the Mortal Kombat TV series and The Matrix Reloaded) several times, the casting of even the bit parts was fantastic (Bridget Regan was looking all kinds of hot as the bartender), and the action was how all Hollywood action movies should be shot (especially when it comes to hand-to-hand action). Also, I kinda wish the movie had been called Baba Yaga.
Overall a fantastic movie that I eagerly look forward to owning on BD.
Don't you mean the Perkins fight? She only had one action sequence (I don't count the minor scene with Harry).

ha.
I really dug the subtitles to this film. Just everything about it was wonderfully sleek and confident.
