Is Skrein supposed to be playing Martin in his late 20's or early 30's?

They probably don't give a shit. Prequel, sequel, reboot, whatever... They're just slapping the franchise name on it and Europa will continue to crank out these types of movies.
We'll eventually get Taken "prequels"/"reboots".

It's likely a reboot but with an origin story. It can't be a prequel because Martin didn't get his high-tech car (a super Audi) until the second movie, where that parking lot sequence is taken from (almost shot for shot) as well as that post-heist chase (they just changed it to girls instead of guys in ski masks).

This series makes it's money in Europe, so the American money is really just an added bonus.
Also for those unaware, The Transporter TV series will be airing this Fall on TNT. They are currently filming season 2 in Europe right now. It stars Chris Vance from Prison Break and Burn Notice. Season 1 has already aired in Europe. Here's a promotional photo of Vance as Martin. It was originally supposed to air on Cinemax last year, but they passed on it.

Wondering where Statham is?
"You know what? It was obviously a great experience doing those films, and I would have loved to keep doing it. But they wanted me to sign on and do three more films without even seeing a script, and they offered me less money to do three than I'd get paid for one!"
"So it was a business decision. I would have loved to have done it, but you can't really sign on without doing a script, and to sign on for three of them? And to get paid a pittance? I just couldn't see the value in that."

That's a real shame. Statham (and the franchise) deserved a better final chapter than the pitiful third movie. But, given what we see in the trailer, he was right to back out. Especially given how little he was offered.

I actually love all of Human Target. That's a guy who deserves something a lot better, like being the new Transporter - Mark Valley. Between Human Target and Keen Eddie, I was hoping to see a lot more of him in movies.

A few years ago he would have been a fantastic Captain America. Hell, if Ben Affleck is only signed for three Batman movies and tires of the role, Mark Valley would be a great Batman.

Can't fault Statham for that. Good decision on his part. And when this fails miserably and they come crawling back to him he can ask for more than he made for each film.
Mark Valley is awesome. He'd be good in something like this, I can also get on board the Batman thing.

Yeah, it's pretty damn bad. I don't blame Statham, it sounds more like they were giving him a fairly bad deal given that he's a much bigger star, and given how bad the third was, I don't blame him for deciding to part ways with the franchise.

Isn't Frank ex French Foreign Legion? I wouldn't mind seeing a movie finding out why he joined.. and what happened that transitioned him into becoming the Transporter.

True, but 2 was pretty self-conscious about that and I liked how it embraced the sheer silliness of the whole enterprise. Is the French Blu-ray boxed set uncut?
