I fully expect to not hear another thing about it, and then it shows up on Crackle.

Those are all pretty terrible release dates anyway. The Oct. date at least made sense, though that late in the month pretty much guaranteed the movie wouldn't have legs at the B.O. All the other dates are dumping grounds.

If they know it's going to bomb, I don't see what difference it makes when it bombs. At least at Halloween it might've gotten a bump from people looking for a scary movie.

The TV ads have wisely dropped any scenes with acting from their previews.

Saw this tonight. I can't quite put in words how shitty this film is.
Even though he was only 1 of the 3 writers behind the screenplay, I was interested in seeing how Jacob Aaron Estes (Mean Creek) would approach the series.
The entire film is boring & derivative and the direction is (on a good day) close to sleepwalking.
Underneath all the garbage that is endlessly piled on top of the script, was a single (possible) idea for a film I'd actually want to see explored further. That idea is only explored for maybe 10 minutes and then completely passed over.

It's burning up the charts with a stunning 8% on RT. I didn't think they would be able to beat the 20% that Ring 2 had, so I think congrats are in order.

I'll probably buy it to add to my Ring collection, but with reviews like this I'll certainly be waiting for it to hit like $3 at the used store.

That would be great. Or if not a remake of that movie, at least use a similar formula of seeming like one movie at the start, then becoming another in the middle to throw audiences for a loop. And if the advertisers are smart, they'd not spoil the change in tone in the previews, and keep up the charade of it being some harmless little romance/comedy/drama.

Pile of garbage, makes me appreciate The Ring Two (which in itself was bad).

If it were he'd reference them as something that is now a caramel and butter rum candy. I know a lot of Japanese people and can't say any have ever been offended by being called a Jap, but that could just be local.
With that said, yes Ring vs Grudge/Sadako vs Kayako was awful. But entertainingly so.

Depends on how it's said, since it's just a shortening of Japanese it isn't actually racial slang, but it's also easier to make it sound offensive in the way it's delivered due to how harsh that "P" can sound. You probably can turn it into an insinuation of insult very quickly.
