Why sixth sense 1999 is considered as thriller movie?

why sixth sense is considered as thriller movie?
why thriller even though there are no thriller elements like psycho 1960 have? ending is twist so it means not thriller, twist means surprise ending
Even imdb put this movie in thriller genre movie.

why mystery, are there any detectives or cops in this movie?
there are no searching elements like se7en movie have, then why it is still mystery genre movie?

Re: Why sixth sense 1999 is considered as thriller movie?

So you're saying Sixth Sense isn't a thriller because it has a twist ending, and thrillers can't have twist endings. Then you say Psycho is a thriller although it does have a twist ending.

SIXTH SENSE is a ghost story, pure and simple. But you can't say that in mixed company (i.e. people who've seen the movie and people who haven't seen the movie) because that would be a spoiler. So you have to call it a "thriller" in such circumstances so that you can avoid issuing a spoiler by accurately labeling it a "ghost story." Got it?

I think you would be safe calling it a ghost story just based off the "I see dead people" aspect. The trailers didn't make any secret of there being ghosts in the movie.

Re: Why sixth sense 1999 is considered as thriller movie?

This is why genre labeling is stupid.

Why can't a story just be a story that happens to have supernatural, mystery aspects?

I've been wanting to watch this again. I haven't seen it since it was in theaters.
