Damn fine casting. Regardless of how the movie turns out, I'm sure Watson will make a great Belle.

I'd see this for Watson. I like the original but am not nuts about it.

I don't think Maleficent had any singing. Cinderella 2015 probably won't either.

With Watson onboard, I might check this out.

Hopefully this also means the 1991 movie will get a new blu-ray release in 2016.

Watson's Facebook post mentioned she'd get to dance to "Be Our Guest" (and take singing lessons), so this is almost certainly going to be a direct adaption of Disney's animated film/the Broadway musical version.

Don't worry. She's not unskilled in that area.

It would be neat if they could shoot this (or something like it) it in a "classical" way. And shed that Burton-esque style that everyone is using right now.

I still need to see that Cocteau one. I always look at it during the sales but never get it cuz I want something else more. Last time it was that or Picnic at Hanging Rock. Hanging Rock won.

Disney are as pop as you get, I seriously doubt they'll ever return to anything "classical." I wonder why they have this sudden urge to make live-action adaptations, probably to get more mileage out of existing franchises.

Disney wants Gosling to play Beast?

http://comicbook.com/2015/02/05/ryan...he-beast-movi/
Sounds like Disney may have found their 'Beast' to star alongside Emma Watson ("Harry Potter"), who was recently cast as 'Belle' in their live-action Beauty and the Beast musical.

The Tracking Board, which has been nailing a few scoops here and there now claim that Ryan Gosling ("Crazy Stupid Love") has been offered the lead role. According to them he is Disney's "top choice."

So they went from casting an incredible actress as Belle to casting an incredibly bland actor as the Beast?

I bet Gosling won't do it. They should get Charlie Hunnam.

Yeah, except then who does he transform into? And I don't think the audience wants to think of him boning Emma as their relationship progresses.

Well, that would make more sense then, and I see that in your original post.

Well, there are a lot of problems with the Beauty and the Beast story, even the Disney version, that they are going to have problems adapting to live action; I doubt they can go with a gigantic beast unless they change the story.

No, I thought he was neutered.

Also, what the fuck is everyone's obsession with Emma Watson?
