I'm not the biggest fan of the franchise overall but I do enjoy certain versions. The acting and effects aren't really the highlight but it's a fun franchise at times. Mighty Morphin' and In Space are the best of the versions I've seen in terms of decent characters and stories.
The film was a curiosity to me to see how they'd handle it and while I'll still probably see it I'm very much getting the vibe that this will be more along the lines of the Michael Bay Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films which I had hoped it wouldn't be.

The teaser was intriguing, but all the stuff i've seen since don't look so hot. The zords look like they're coming from the Transformers school of shitty design.

There was a kind of new Trailer in front of Rogue One. Just a few bits and pieces added and removed nothing huge. Except at the end they changed Rita's line from "I've killed rangers before" to "Hello Rangers"
I wonder if Saban/Fox got heat from parents?

Pretty decent trailer though I still very much feel like the film is giving off a Michael Bay Transformers vibe. The suits look decent but not sure about the Zords yet. Alpha still looks goofy but not quite as bad in finished form in comparison to the concept art. Zordon is decent looking. I actually don't mind his update as the floating head in a tank was always kinda weird to me. Goldar looks like crap. Just a big gold blob pretty much whereas I thought his design on the show was pretty cool.

This franchise has never been high art, but it has had some permutations that are more enjoyable than others. I remember watching the first movie way back in college and having a grand time in the theater, and then listening to the soundtrack over and over ( I might still have it).
My 9 yo son is a fan of the series on Netflix, and I'm hoping, at the least, that this will be a fun theatrical experience we can share.

So this opens a week before GHOST IN THE SHELL. Two Hollywood blockbusters based on Japanese imports of the same vintage with roughly the same audiences and they have to open a week apart? What genius came up with that?!

maybe its because I watched the show when I was 10, but that trailer looks pretty damn good.
Of course I fully expect a Transformers/TMNT/G.I Joe type movie that will ultimately be terrible. But that trailer looks good!

Running Time: 2 hours 4 minutes
Rating: PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, language, and for some crude humor

Coming from a non-fan, I think that this might actually be decent. I love monster movies, so the last half of the film should be right up my alley.
