Kind of surprised they're pushing any kind of theatrical release, I dug the movie, but it is royally fucked up and seems unlikely to have widespread appeal.
And man oh man, that spectacularly horrible CG fire.

I spoke to David Cronenberg a few days ago about 'Maps to the Stars' and produced three articles. This is the main one with links to the others, one in the Miami New Times, the other in the Miami Herald. It was a dream come true to talk with the guy that traumatized me as a kid with 'Scanners.' Leave it to director David Cronenberg (The Fly, A History of Violence) to spend decades making studio films outside of Hollywood, only to finally shoot a film in Hollywood that looks to take it down. Of course, it would help if this acerbic, satirical take on Hollywood culture was a little more attuned to the world of today, but that does not mean it isn’t fun. Maps to the Stars is an entertaining drama that follows a few privileged individuals, as they deal with the culture they have thrived in, with lots of setup for disastrous results. There is not a whole lot to take from the punches supposedly taken from the skewering of said culture, but there is enough in the way of the performances and odd touches that made it worthwhile in a weird, Cronenbergian kind of way.

Saw it today with my wife and we both loved it. First film to make my top 10 of 2015.

Watched this again the other day. Still really enjoy the ride, but really dislike the destination.

Just watched this.
I enjoyed the film, although I'm not really sure what the point of it was.
That was my entire takeaway. Great performance by Moore, everyone else was just good enough.
3/5

Watched this tonight. What an odd yet interesting satirical take on celebrity culture.
Seeing Julianne Moore taking a shit and ripping ass was weird.
The scene where the mom
might be the worst CGI I've seen in years.

I saw the blu for this in the Wal-Mart dump bin today. I'll pick it up at some point. As much as I like Cronenberg, I've never had a high interest to see this.

Who knows, Conenberg's films are low budget affairs. Maybe it was purposely done or that is all that could be afforded. As the director, he could have certainly done it a different way such as the person catching fire and then burning off camera, but he chose that instead.

Being how extremely crappy it looked, I took it as an in-joke about Hollywood.

Watched this movie for the 2nd time and loved it again. The story and its characters are so messed up and narcissisticly evil. That Benjie character had me in stitches being such a little shit throughout the movie.

Saw it 10 months ago in the theater and loved it.
Need to crack open the blu-ray and give it a spin.
