I've not kept close watch on the particulars of the film (I like to be surprised), but could those be the Nephilim?

Hehe.. I love the complaining about the movie not being historically accurate. Just awesome. I'll probably wait until this is on Netflix, but the big screen is pretty tempting.

Of course you do. You could make it a double feature and go see God's Not Dead as well.

They're in Galaxy Quest. So Anthony Hopkins has now played Methuselah and Odin, where is there left for his career to go ?

Why would you follow up what appears to be a relatively well made adventure movie with a really poorly made, Lifetime quality religious movie?

Because those movies have made Tyler Perry rich?

Not familiar with the film God is Not Dead so I went to Youtube to watch the trailer. That was fucking painful and hilarious at the same time.

the lead kid in God is Not Dead makes Tyler Perry look like Chiwetel Ejiofor. And the filmmaking makes the Madea movies look like some 1980s Bill Murray classic.

If Tyler Perry had starred in 12 YEARS A SLAVE, I would have gone to see it.

And how do you know it was poorly made unless you actually watched it? It made 8 million in its first weekend. Not too shabby for a movie that you called "Lifetime quality".

No surprise, the only ppl who are bashing the film are the non-Christians.

I had the pleasure of chaperoning a trip to it with a group of 10 - 13 year olds as a favor to my boss. The only people who bash the film are ones that actually watch films, it was, simply put, poorly made. Bad movies have a way of making money if they sell it to the right crowd.

I was going to the theater to see Bad Words and saw a poster for God's Not Dead. Never heard it but it kind of felt like a Christian film. Is it part of that genre? Cuz they haven't made one worth watching yet from what i can tell. Same goes for Queer cinema.

in the movie they're called 'the watchers' & they help Noah & family build the ark as well as protect them from Ray Winstone's army (in a sequence that could of been from LOTR)

God's Not Dead is indeed a part of that genre. My problem with religious film is they're more interested in sermonizing you than making an actual movie with the values properly applied. L

Didn't Noah save a pair of those?

Think I am going to check it out this weekend or next.

So the Nephilim are what in the bible?

EDIT: Rypro pretty much answered it. Soooo is that the only time the Nephilim pop up in the bible?

All I know about this story is the basic gist of it. Dude builds a massive boat for 2 of every animal somehow for a massive flood.

Would Noah be receiving the same praise if the film had stuck to the Biblical account and maintained a spiritual message? I'm willing to enjoy the movie as an action adventure flick, but I find it offensive that they tried to promote it as a Christian movie.

One lousy trick in the trailer is where Noah stands up to the bad guy, and says "I'm not alone". Wow, that's powerful, God is on his side. But in the movie, Noah is actually talking about the Watchers/Demons. They are portrayed as sympathetic creatures.
