Seriously, there's now way he's going to last long enough to do those. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we hear of the franchise for a while given what I've been reading about Covenant.
Enough with this nuclear arms proliferation ... Jim Cameron just saw Ridley's proclamation and raised him 13 more Avatar films.

Alien
Aliens
Alien3
Alien: Resurrection

Cough! After Covenant, Scott plans six more instalments so who the hell knows where in the sequence they will go. What a mess.

At this point I'm just going to patiently hold out for Alien in the Hood and the inevitable follow-up, Alien Back 2 Tha Hood.

From the article ... Ridley:

Quote:
There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien… If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.
How long till we can start posting these insane ramblings and playing "Trump administration or Alien production team?"

You guys are so funny. I'm still looking forward to this. Of course it's not going to be as good as the original, but that's always the case.

My opinion, though I'm willing to accept Prometheus as a spin-off in the same universe.

Aliens wasn't as good as the original. Just because you're not as good as the original doesn't mean you have to suck.

The horror genre is my guilty pleasure. I can enjoy shitty horror movies even though I know they're not objectively good. I like to marathon movies from the Friday the 13th franchise, stuff like that. I don't mind getting new Alien movies even if they're not very good.

I liked most of Tony's movies. But I saw "Man on Fire" for the first time the other night. Anyone know where I can get those 146 minutes back?

Alien 3 is better than all Alien movies that came after it. (Whether it's "fan fiction" is up to your personal tastes).

Just like his brother, Tony has approximately 3 good films and Man on Fire isn't one the of them.

Alien 3 was an excellent movie. Disappointing but still excellent on it's own. It doesn't feel like fan-fiction at all, unlike Alien: Resurrection or Aliens vs Freddy.

But even though it doesn't feel like fan-fiction, the back-to-basics approach is usually a disappointing end to film franchises like this (ie Karate Kid III, Rocky V).

Re: Alien: Covenant (Prometheus 2) (D: Scott) S: Fassbender

Spy Game was all style, but I loved the hell out of that one and the score for it is fantastic. Still need to see The Hunger and Revenge.
Unstoppable was better than it should have been, IMO.
I couldn't get into Taking of Pelham 1-2-3, though. Deja Vu was... odd.

Domino is great, though. Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) has the writing credit on that one, I think.

Anyway... back to Ridley...

So more Alien flicks, eh? There's no way he lives to make them all, so I wonder if he has a sort of succession plan for other directors to take over the franchise (like Villeneuve). Let's just hope Blomkamp's fanfic never gets made...

I wouldn't say this is "back to basics" ... while the trailer indicates some of the esthetics of the original, it is FAR from recapturing the mood, atmosphere, and "intelligence". This screams slasher crap all the way.

I hope not, Villeneuve can do better.

For me it screams deflection from the turd that was Prometheus and desperation to capture the magic of the original.

Please buy a ticket and watch this!!! We messed up with Prometheus by trying a bunch of philosophical mumbo jumbo.

Look we've got tons of xenomorphs, eggs & facehuggers. We even put the word "Alien" back in the title. Come on people!!!

I think they're just putting that out there to give this film an aura of confidence, when in reality they're just playing it by ear. They're trying to dismiss the possibility that this Alien: Covenant is merely just another desperate attempt to make something out of an aging intellectual property. No, this is really part of a grand scale epic, and it's all been planned out in advance too! We don't make mistakes!

I meant Alien 3.
Terminator: Genysys and Alien: Covenant seem more like creations by a committee of share holders.

What were the most profitable Alien films? Alien and Aliens. Okay, Let's be smart and repeat the ingredients that made those films work.

[x] Butch hair styled protagonist Aliens
[x] planet full of xenomorphs Aliens
[x] evil android Alien
[x] good android Aliens
[x] military grade weapons and vehicles Aliens
[x] space truckers with one guy having a Cowboy-sounding name Alien
etc
etc
etc
=profit!
