I actually thought the trailer looked pretty good and I'm remaining cautiously optimistic for this. I really hated Prometheus and found it incredibly boring, but it seems like their going back to the basics on this and I am ok with that even though I never found the idea of where the Aliens came from to be something I really cared much about.

Incredibly boring? It may have been confusing and poor characters being portrayed BUT I would never ever ever call it boring! WTF.

Yes I found it incredibly boring. The running time was long, it was preachy, featured a lot of sitting around with characters talking none of whom I cared about and I kept checking my watch in the theater waiting for it to be over.

Alien and The Terminator gave us franchises that refused to die just like the respective monsters of each...

For those of you who wish to see my reaction to this movie, I'm now in Portland OR. You'll have to make your way out to me, I'm not going to fly to LA to watch this. But we do have some bar theaters like LA does, so we can at least drink our way through the inevitable mess that this movie is.
May is also my birthday month, so I can at least appreciate being that much closer to death as I watch.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. We have some digital IMAX theaters.
Edit: That's a no on Dolby Vision in Oregon for now.

Dolby Vision. So everything can be pink and purple now instead of teal and orange.

apparently War of the Worlds was never written in this universe so they don't know that even if the atmosphere lacks toxic gases and has enough O2 for humans there could still be lots of dangerous things like diseases or worse

Lots of people thought the same after seeing the Prometheus trailer, this did nothing for me. Looks like Scott with the character interaction is trying to make this feel like the first film.
Dallas, Ripley, Lambert, Brett, Kane, Ash & Parker are sorely missed.

Hmm, yeah I hope the wink, wink references to the original are kept to a minimum. This clip didn't give me a great deal of confidence...but hopefully it's just a separate thing they filmed and not in the film itself. And looks like they've checked off most of the boxes for types of characters to have...

I would love it if Franco bites if first and the sole survivor is ...Danny McBride! He then wakes up from a stoner dream with a stack of Alien universe videos next to him and informs the Franco character from Pineapple Express he had the strangest dream. He is then served a hot dog with the voice of Seth Rogen.
Word is this test screened recently in L.A. and it did not go over well. Little prologue didn't seem like anything other than a scene from a horror movie where you're trying to determine who dies first. Pretty much following horror movie rules. There's obviously double meaning with the title being "Last Supper." If you look at the speech shot, Waterston's character is standing precisely where Jesus is in the painting. My guess is this means she's either :A) Betrayed by a character close to her, B)Sacrifices herself for the good of everyone else (mankind???) C)A and B.
