You mean you didn't like the Friday the 13th vibe from the trailer?

Looks like Scott decided to eschew with the intrigue and go full on gore-fest. Shame that he seems to have taken that route. I only want this movie to do well so we can get the third one and hopefully lay the franchise to rest (until the inevitable reboot).

So are they on the same planet? That ship crashed down before leaving? Or maybe another planet on the way to the planet I think we wanted to see (the Engineer's home planet).

Though they're not all winners, I enjoy Ridley Scott's movies more than inri222. I really appreciate his work in the industry. Under RSA, he enables a lot of filmmakers in film, TV, and advertising. Looking forward to Blade Runner more. This looks alright.

Loved Prometheus, though it was hard to accept the illogically unprofessional actions from the main characters (I was waiting for one of them to take the black ooze and lick it to see what it tastes like). I like tightly scripted stories where the characters do the right thing and still get in trouble. If Prometheus, they were just asking for trouble.

I found it very hard to like anyone in the cast of Prometheus, especially when compared to this bunch

These people acted like more believable humans and not caricatures. They had a chemistry between them that felt authentic.

Looks like another planet (that is already habitable).... not the most exciting setting...give us LV-426 already. Or something that feels 'Alien'....

I got to see a 35th anniversary screening a few yrs back, they did a Q&A with Skerrit...he's still got that charm! He pretty much just side-stepped a Prometheus question, said you can't do it as well as the first time. I think he's right....

I read that there will be at least 3 alien creatures. There's the Neo-morphs that are basically "back bursters," the traditional face hugger we see shoot out out of the egg, the parasite spores that invade hosts through their ears and nose (you can see it in the trailer when the guy steps on the pods), and traditional alien drone.

The Neo morphs look like variations of the "Deacon" creature from Prometheus.

Something like this:

What's funny is that the xenomorphs reproducing by spores and bursting out of different parts of people's bodies were the main gimmicks of the William Gibson Alien 3 script.

The beast is done. Cooked. I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’. But after four (forgot ‘AvP’ movies), I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start. - Ridley Scott, September 2014

It's a different planet, it's the Engineer's home planet; the way it goes you have the Aliens plot of a main ship and a dropship, with that dropship destroyed because of the first new type of alien coming out of that guy's back.

I'm guessing the bulk of the trailer is the first hour and the second hour is them getting back to the main ship with Billy Crudup's alien causing the problems there. If the movie turns out to be that, that would be a major bummer.

That's exactly what I was thinking with the shower scene. It also feels like a big budget relation to AvP: Requiem.

What was crazy was that the "truckers-in-space" seemed to be more cautious and intelligent than the actual scientists featured in Prometheus who are there on a scientific mission.

They took much of the visual interest out of Giger's design.

Sounds more like the studio saw Prometheus didn't do what they wanted it to do so now they want to play it safe.

Well... I, for one, am very exited to see the new "Backbursters". And people claim Hollywood has run out of new ideas...pshaw....

So it's OK to just walk about an alien planet with no headgear so spores can just go into one's ear? Someone please explain.

Because when you're trying to escape from a tumbling ship that's about to crush you, you can only run in one direction.

Nothing will match the cast from the first film. Heck, nothing can match the first film, period. As good as the sequel is, I will always hold "Alien" in higher regard. Ridley...what the fuck happened?
