Ben Mendelsohn is in everything these days.
Also neat to see the actor who plays The Hound in another role.

Can't wait for him and John Hawkes to do a movie together.

Kodi Smit-Mcfee is getting kind of goofy looking and gangly as he hits puberty. It's only a matter of time before he gets cast along side Jay Baruchel as brothers.

This playing on DirecTV right now, a full month before theaters. It costs $12.99 to watch it.
May take the plunge because Fassbender is in it and reviews are pretty good.

Just not jiving with it or what? Doesn't have anything ugly. Interesting composition in some of those shots.

This gets released on Friday in theaters and on demand (just like Maggie and Welcome to Me last week, I like this trend).

That's the second time I've seen the June 26th release date, but it's still scheduled for Limited and VoD starting tomorrow.

Somewhat favorable New York Times review:

...although this opening paragraph gives me pause:
God save us from "absurdist deconstructions."
I saw the trailer for this yesterday and it reminds me too much of all those hippie westerns of the early 1970s. But I want to give it a chance because of Fassbender.

...although this opening paragraph gives me pause:
The surreal frontier fable “Slow West,” written and directed by John Maclean (“Man on a Motorcycle”), is an absurdist deconstruction of classic Hollywood westerns whose 21st-century view of frontier mythology is as sardonic as that of the Coen brothers.

Watched it tonight. Liked it quite a bit, especially the cinematography and score. It's a very simple story without a lot of dialogue and has a decent amount of dark humor to it. Worth checking out for sure.

Free w/ Prime on Amazon Instant Video...
Not that it matters but it's nice to see that they decided to use a NON McPhee mentally challenged tyope of image on there.

Rented the blu ray version and was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it was. Beautiful cinematography with a nice musical score, some top-notch acting, and a running time of 84 minutes. (I would have welcomed a longer film with the characters, but came away satisfied with its brief running time.) It has a nice build to the climax which I found to be rewarding. A nice small independent movie which trumps many of the overblown concoctions put out by the major studios these days.

Damn. Watched it just now. Damn good film. Doesn't play out like the genre would make you expect. I'm fine and dandy w/ genre but the way this made it feel original by doing things NOT expected from it as well was very fresh. Solid flick. I'll get the BD someday. Mentally challenged McPhee image or not.
Aside from its nature to this or that, it felt very real in how it went against the grain. Unpredictability of it all. I like westerns and many genres but you go against the grain and make it work? It's worth it just for the narrative alone.

Watched this tonight and it was pretty good. Surreal as shit, too.
As for the ending, although it was foreshadowed earlier
