Grand Piano

Wood plays Tom Selznick, the most talented pianist of his generation, who has stopped performing in public because of his stage fright. Years after a catastrophic performance, he reappears in public for a long awaited concert in Chicago. In a packed theater, in front of an expectant audience, Tom finds a message written on the score: “Play one wrong note and you die.” In the sights of an anonymous sniper (Cusack), Tom must get through the most difficult performance of his life and look for help without being detected.

That does look bad. Even worse with Wood in it.

It seems a movie with that premise is released once a month - ie. the protagonist is forced to do something so the bad guy doesn't do harm to either someone he/she loves or the general population.

If Tom was so freakin' unhappy, why didn't he just immediately hit a wrong note and let the guy shoot him and put him out of his misery? Or at least do it to see if he was bluffing or not. (And if he wasn't bluffing then it would make a mercifully short movie.)
