Re: Indiana Jones 5 - News, Rumors, Casting, etc...

I actually think that Chris Pratt would make a great Indy. Hell he already did the opening scene to Raiders in the opening scene of GoTG. Looking at the picture he could play Drake as well, but i think i would prefer seeing him as Indy. I would love that series to get some fresh talent involved and he is the first person i have seen that i think could fill the shoes of Ford.

I don't think he's amazing but calling him a "flavor of the month" is just silly. He's a decent looking guy, seems likable, and is a pretty good actor. I think he's going to go a long way in films to be honest.

Yup. Because Hollywood isn't filled with tons of decent looking, seemingly likeable men. And he hasn't actually been asked to do anything truly taxing as an actor. Not yet, anyway. So, at best, all we can assume is that he's serviceable.

Let's be honest man, you didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy (and make it known continually) so you're biased against him based on one film. That's how it seems anyways. Like I said I think Pratt is a decent actor, I don't know that I'd go as far as to say he's amazing or outstanding or whatever (yet at least), but for the roles that he's chosen thus far he definitely fits the parts well.

Yet I loved him in The Lego Movie. So there is that.

How about a prequel to Raiders, but post YIJA? It might have to retcon some of the books and such, but I'd be down to know how he and Belloq became bitter rivals. Maybe they started out as friends? I dunno. I didn't follow the series or any accompanying literature on how their relationship may have developed.

Pratt as a "shadowy reflection of [Dr. Jones]" could be interesting and fun. It'd also afford Pratt the opportunity to play something against type and see if he genuinely has any acting chops. I like this idea.

Absolutely. Calling him something like a flavor of the month is undeserved, IMO.

He doesn't come off as the next Sam Worthington.

Let's get George Lucas out of retirement long enough to CGI Chris Pratt over Shia LaBeouf in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and change his name from "Mutt Williams" to "Indiana Jones, Jr." (or Henry Jones III, whichever works) - then George can publicly say the original movie "doesn't exist" and we'll all be fine.

I don't see how they could pass the adventurer hat to Mutt. Mutt had no inclination that he wanted to follow and do what Indy does chasing artifacts.

Re: Indiana Jones 5 - News, Rumors, Casting, etc...

KotCS took place in 1957, with an approx. 19 year old Mutt. Fast forward 10 to 15 years, and you could cast Pratt as 30/35 year old version of him. And technically Indy has a daughter too. You could fast forward even further and cast a 16/18 year old daughter to throw into the mix. Though I don't remember how old she was on the show. But I just feel like an Indiana Jones adventure in the 1970s, really wouldn't feel like Indiana Jones.

I'm listening to the people on EW Radio on SiriusXM and they are insisting that the next Indiana Jones should be a woman played by Emma Stone. And they weren't joking.

Yeah, even Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being set in 1957 didn't feel right to be honest. I feel like Indiana Jones belongs pre-1950's for it to work best. Between say 1900 and the 1940's is the ideal timeframe to me.

Exactly. So... pre Temple of Doom era is where we could explore. 1920-1934 has a gap in stories. But Indy should be around 35 in Temple, which is where Pratt is at now. So at best they could do a Pratt prequel with a 28-30 year old Indy, but even that is pushing it. By the time this actually comes together, if at all, he'd be closer to 40.
