Fox is considering a Marvel style Cinematic Universe.
So Fantastic Four and X-Men might be crossing over now.
Does Fox own any other Marvel property besides those two?

Yeah. No possible way marvel could own Cable unless he was out of that rights deal somehow. Which seems heavily unlikely. He ain't Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver level to be an important thing for the rights.

Then what's the fucking point? Why not just make it a "what if" story? Oh yeah, it wouldn't sell nearly as much...

That's pretty much exactly why it wasn't just a "What If" story. But who cares? It was fun, it was cool, and it clearly had an expiration date. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Between the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, Fox could certainly set up their own cinematic universe with Apocalypse/Franklin Richards tying them together.

As someone said before here, it's rather amazing how marvel has forced Fox to get shit moving. Even WB is trying to succeed with their post Avengers agenda.

Agree, not sure how Cable works with out X-Men. I thought they were working on X-Force, so I'd even have guessed Cable would be a part of that.

And depending on the price levels of them you could come out for the better. I haven't bought TPBs in store for a long while but goddamn are the Marvel ones overpriced. DC ones are at appropriate levels. I've been abusing this thing a bit for some DC new 52 stuff. Dunno if I like Suicide Squad yet. JL was alright.
Taffer, you read any of the new Swamp Thing?

For some reason Animal Man never really interested me before but he does now.
I'll get the new ST TPBs when I head over to b&N again.

While I'm glad that Fox/Singer is being ambitious with their vision for this franchise, I question whether Age of Apocalypse is the right direction to go. I know it's a popular storyline and they probably won't follow the original that closely, but it all feels a little too fantastic for the world they've built with this franchise. In my opinion, Apocalypse will be a really tough villain to pull off in a believable manner.
Also, wasn't the major thrill of AoA seeing all of the old characters in new/different roles? I don't know if they can replicate that for the films. A lot of different characters have appeared over the course of the series, but there are only a handful that have really meant anything or that we've gotten to know well enough to make seeing them altered even interesting.
Of course all this assumes that X-Men: Apocalypse refers to Age of Apocalypse and not just some new story featuring Apocalypse. Do we know for sure that this is going to be AoA?
