They've mentioned this before, and no, X-Men and FF is it.

Will Singer be back, or just producing?

I've read reports that Marvel actually owns Cable?

This is what I've been really waiting for all these years. DoFP and AoA. Hold me.

Given his roots in the X-universe, that seems unlikely. His parents, hiw e got his techno parts and mutant powers would make him tough to explain.

Yeah. No possible way marvel could own Cable unless he was out of that rights deal somehow. Which seems heavily unlikely. He ain't Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver level to be an important thing for the rights.

Then what's the fucking point? Why not just make it a "what if" story? Oh yeah, it wouldn't sell nearly as much...

To Launch Nate Grey as X-Man, or course! Totally worth it!

That's pretty much exactly why it wasn't just a "What If" story. But who cares? It was fun, it was cool, and it clearly had an expiration date. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Ok, now I really want to read Age of Apocalypse. At least the Kindle versions are cheaper then the Paperbacks.

They said that they split him out of the X-universe in regards to trying to sell his rights separately from X-Men

Between the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, Fox could certainly set up their own cinematic universe with Apocalypse/Franklin Richards tying them together.

Hrmmm. Not sure how that would work even. Cable is a worthless character without his X background.

As someone said before here, it's rather amazing how marvel has forced Fox to get shit moving. Even WB is trying to succeed with their post Avengers agenda.

Agree, not sure how Cable works with out X-Men. I thought they were working on X-Force, so I'd even have guessed Cable would be a part of that.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th 2016)

Potential DOFP credit scene:

Spoiler:
First Showing has talked to an insider and a second source and has revealed that following
DAYS OF FUTURE PAST the post-credit scene will feature Michael Fassbender’s Magneto discovering Apocalypse and becoming possessed by him. Here is their specific description of the scene:

"...the credits bumper jumps back to the past with a young Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) in a ramshackle house in the desert eating dinner, clearly on the run from all the authorities who want to bring him down. While using a well outside to get some water, the young Magneto sees something fall from the night sky and crash to Earth nearby. Upon inspecting the impact zone, he encounters what is described as an "alien form" who is "towering, terrifying, with a twisted metal face and dark pits for eyes." It's Apocalypse and he says, "I have crossed rivers of time to find you." Magneto asks, "Who are you?"

The alien responds, "I am your future." Suddenly Apocalypse merges with Magneto, who screams and blasts an insane amount of energy and shockwaves around him. This energy explosion levels everything around him, with a blast radius that goes for miles. As Magneto looks at what he's done, he has a realization of the power he now holds and a villainous grin begins to form before the film cuts to black."

Sounds dumb enough to be real

I guess it could be cool to see X-Men characters interacting with Fantastic Four characters but with those being the only two properties they own I guess I don't see much of a point.

And depending on the price levels of them you could come out for the better. I haven't bought TPBs in store for a long while but goddamn are the Marvel ones overpriced. DC ones are at appropriate levels. I've been abusing this thing a bit for some DC new 52 stuff. Dunno if I like Suicide Squad yet. JL was alright.

Taffer, you read any of the new Swamp Thing?

New 52 Swamp Thing? Yeah, its pretty good. The Rotworld crossover event with Animal Man went on a bit too long, but it wasn't bad. Swamp Thing and Animal Man are both some of the better New 52 titles.

For some reason Animal Man never really interested me before but he does now.

I'll get the new ST TPBs when I head over to b&N again.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th 2016)

While I'm glad that Fox/Singer is being ambitious with their vision for this franchise, I question whether Age of Apocalypse is the right direction to go. I know it's a popular storyline and they probably won't follow the original that closely, but it all feels a little too fantastic for the world they've built with this franchise. In my opinion, Apocalypse will be a really tough villain to pull off in a believable manner.

Also, wasn't the major thrill of AoA seeing all of the old characters in new/different roles? I don't know if they can replicate that for the films. A lot of different characters have appeared over the course of the series, but there are only a handful that have really meant anything or that we've gotten to know well enough to make seeing them altered even interesting.

Of course all this assumes that X-Men: Apocalypse refers to Age of Apocalypse and not just some new story featuring Apocalypse. Do we know for sure that this is going to be AoA?
