Re: Logan (Wolverine 3) (2017, D: Mangold) S: Jackman, Stewart
Some movies for me are critic proof and I know i'll watch because of a particular aspect, but if a movie or trailer interests me and it gets ravaged by the critics there's a good chance that i'll skip it. I think for the most part review aggregates are a pretty good indication of whether i'll enjoy a movie or not - I don't need an 80-90% on everything, but if a movie is in the 20-30% range it's probably not worth my time and money to see in theaters and I know I can wait until later.
And then there's the opposite where a movie that I otherwise wasn't that excited about gets rave reviews and makes me want to see it more or on opening week. And like Artman said, it's nice to see movies get good recognition.

It depends for me. Generally if I want to see something I'll still see it even if reviews are bad. If I'm more on the fence a bad review either leads me to wait until home release or just skipping it altogether.

Re: Logan (Wolverine 3) (2017, D: Mangold) S: Jackman, Stewart
That's great. I don't let the opinion of any one person sway me, but I do pay attention to the general consensus of critics nationwide...most easily seen in the RT score. I only go to 6-8 films in theaters a year now...so yeah, while I was very much excited by the Logan trailers...if the reviews came in unfavorably...chances are I probably wouldn't be seeing it.
Despite me not being an every week movie goer....I am still a big movie fan. I get excited to see a movie I want to succeed get great reviews. Is it that much a of a surprise that someone might post on a movie enthusiast forum that a new movie is getting great early buzz?

So excited for this movie. And I don't really know anything about it. Who is the villain?

In the comics he's originally part of the Hellfire Club, the same group that you saw in X-Men First Class that Kevin Bacon's character led. He's part cyborg, and ends up leading a small team of cyborgs called the Reavers that hunt mutants. It looks like Pierce and the Reavers are the group in Logan that you see in the trailers.

Sounds like the villain is the only weak spot in the film from the reviews I've heard. Seems like a pretty common trend among superhero films in general.

Hugh Jackman Would Keep Playing Wolverine If The X-Men Were Part Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Hugh Jackman has made it clear that not even Deadpool will get him to reprise the role of Wolverine after Logan, but if Marvel Studios owned the X-Men, then his decision would have been much different...
Hugh Jackman has made no secret of the fact that he would like to see Wolverine team-up with Captain America and Iron Man, but with Fox holding the rights to the character that's simply never going to happen no matter how good the relationship between them and Marvel becomes. Now, with Jackman insisting he's done after Logan, we have some news sure to break your hearts.
Talking to ScreenRant recently, the actor was asked whether he would have considered sticking around as Wolverine if he'd been given the chance to meet The Avengers, and his answer was understandably a resounding yes.
"If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughter]. You never know."
He then went on to discuss the elements of Old Man Logan which they couldn't include in this movie, including The Hulk and his inbred children. Had they made the cut, Jackman points out that the presence of characters from the MCU would have seen him agree to sticking around a little longer. "At the moment, honestly, if I really did have them there, I probably wouldn’t have said this is the last. It just feels like this is the right time [to leave the character]."
What a shame, eh? We're now never going to see Wolverine meet Deadpool or members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but based on what we've heard, at least Logan is going to be the perfect send off for him!

It's too bad Fox and Marvel can't come together and work something out. Seeing Jackman as Wolverine with characters like Hulk would be amazing and the fact that he'd be game to keep playing the character if that could happen is a shame. I realize some people like the fact that the two entities are separate and granted we may have not gotten an R rated Wolverine film or Deadpool but there's enough that would be interesting if all could come together.

Its really sad this even necessary, but when I see parents with their kids in Watchmen, The Hills have Eyes, or the Last House on the Left its probably needed. This popped up on my facebook feed from the Alamo Drafthouse today. I'll be seeing it sometime next week.

Ha ha, thanks for the info. Guess I can't take my mom to this one. She loves Jackman and liked the first two Wolverine movies.
