Watched the first one again the other night. Man, that movie sure had balls. Some shoddy CGI... but the action is just brutal and great. WHD has nothing on this.

A lot of the critics are being critical of PC shit, such as:

I pretty much agree with Stuckmann's review. The movie is "fine". It is nowhere near as good as the first and a lot of that has to do with no Fuqua, who, in my opinion, directs action very, very well. The plot is very reminiscent of an episode/season of 24. One sequence even mirrors 24 Season 4 - the saving of Secretary Heller from execution.
Some of the stuff these guys survive is pretty laughable.
All in all, if you liked the first, you'll like this one. But don't go in expecting it to be anywhere as surprisingly good as the first. It is still better than the majority of action movies that get released these days. It doesn't fall into the Taken category of shitty sequels.

This movie was simplistic, badly written, poorly acted at times, and supported by some of the worst CGI I have seen in a multiplex.

Saw this earlier today and it was great! If you liked the first then you'll like the second. The CGI was more than adequate. The brutality of some of the kills was exquisite. Fuck it, bring on a third film!

No kidding. Movies take whatever the current big threat is, and apply it to their movies to make them more relevant. It used to be the Soviets, although maybe we didn't hear anything because they're white.
