For the few interested, Kevin posted on Facebook that filming starts Monday. He included a pic of a pool being worked on and said "once this set is finished, horrible things are gonna happen to Justin Long in that pool."

A24 and Demarest Films have teamed up on Kevin Smith’s latest film Tusk. The film, which stars Justin Long, Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez, and Haley Joel Osment, was born out of one of Smith’s immensely popular SModcasts. The modern-day monster movie, which Smith also wrote, is currently in production. Sam Englebardt, David Greathouse, and Shannon McIntosh are producing. The film will be released third quarter of 2014.

Only thing he's ever done that I liked was Zack and Miri. Everything else I have seen is an abomination.

For me, everything he's done after "Dogma" has ranged from horrible to unwatchable.

I remember the days when Kevin Smith was considered a God on the Internet. Seems like a long time ago...

I like:
Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks 2
Everything after or in between has sucked. Oh, and the Clerks animated series was good, too.

And it's cool to hate him now.

Kevin getting A24 to distribute means people won't have to fork over 60 bucks to see in theaters like w Red State

Still for all the good/bad about Kevin, I give him credit for keeping in touch with his roots/remembering where he came from. It's hard to think of another semi-successful director who is as fan-accessible as Smith is.

I can't think of a filmmaker so heavily derided that I've enjoyed more. His filmography is far from spotless, but the majority of them are enjoyable. He never set out to be Kubrick and made no pretensions to be, but his comedies are far more engaging than your average Hollywood comedy. I'd rather watch Clerks II any day than dreck like The Sitter.

He gets more shit for his holier than thou attitude then his filmography, imo at least

I used to be a big Smith fan and have cut my collection down to Clerks, Clerks II and Clerks: The Animated Series. Everything else has aged poorly and shows how shallow he truly was.
