Avatar ...did you like it?
simple as that.
i ask this because it seems to get so much hate and frankly i am amazed. i thought it was sheer pagentry and what i go to the movies for.
it was breathtaking in 3D. simply breathtaking.
it obviously was adored by billions being highest grossing of all-time, so some like it.
and we'll make the voting anonymous this time, because, you know, just in case...
so, did you like the first one?

Yep. Saw it twice with my dad in IMAX 3D and loved it both times. The story's old hat, but the way it's presented blew me away. I never thought it was a CGI fest. For me, it's like they actually went to Pandora with cameras and filmed a movie.

Yes. It was inarguably a spectacular technical achievement. The story wasn't the greatest, but it was good enough to keep me engaged and entertained. I saw it twice in theaters on two consecutive nights, which is something I don't think I've ever done.

I like a lot of Cameron's other work but didn't like Avatar. Sure technically it was cool and was nice to look at but the story didn't do anything for me at all and I haven't had any desire to go back and re-watch it.

It's nothing I'd revisit but it wasn't boring, was fairly enjoyable, so I didn't not like it. Thus I'm voting liked it.

Fun flick (saw it twice in theaters and watched the director's cut blu once). I think the characters are interesting enough and have enough chemistry to elevate it above the mediocre story.

I enjoyed the experience in the theater, but I really have no desire to ever watch it again.

I didn't hate it, so I guess I'll vote yes. Wasn't anything spectacular or amazing, but it was decent and held my interest.

It's a fun flick. Yes, it's easy to tear apart given how derivative and cliché it's narrative is but I don't deny I had fun watching it and I was still entertained on repeat viewings.

I liked it better the first time I saw it, when it was called Dances With Wolves. Avatar is worth seeing for the sheer spectacle, like so many of Cameron's films. He will never top Aliens.

Now did anyone watch the 3 hour making of documentary on the extended cut BD?
That was a fantastic documentary.
Yes, I liked the movie.

No. The first thing I said when I walked out of the theater was, "I've seen that movie before."
Avatar is a sugar coated balloon. It's brightly colored, initially sweet, artificial, and completely without substance. Like the Phantom Menace, it demonstrates what happens when a director falls so deeply in love with a new technology that he can't be bothered with anything more than rudimentary storytelling. "We can have him fall in love with a jungle princess or something. Now let's get some more detail on those ferns."

Its a rehashed and not an original story, the 3d was cool and thats it. Saw it once and will never watch it again. A liberal message movie disgushed as science ficiton.

Voted yes.
Now apologies if I completely hijack this thread, but I have to ask, does there need to be a sequel? I liked the movie, it's visually stunning, and a great ad for what HD can be, but I don't know if I want to see a sequel. As a few have mentioned, it's not a new story, in fact if you take away the technology, it's very ho-hum. So I think any sequel will only be enabling Mr Cameron to play with his new-ish toys.

It is a technological marvel but I thought it was boring. Personally I didn't get the love for it.

Re: Avatar ...did you like it?
It's overly long, cliche plot, one-dimensional villains, plot holes everywhere.
But it's really really good looking so people eat it up.
I miss the James Cameron who made the original Terminator. Now he's more about making tech demos than actual movies. He's genuinely talented and is indeed pushing the medium technologically. But what is the reward, 3D movies in theaters everywhere that I can't go to because they strain my eyes?
It's the same as when he helped usher in CGI. He provided an amazing storytelling tool for filmmakers to use to create larger worlds. But unfortunately for the most part CGi has been used as a crutch and can often prevent creativity.
