Homefront (11/27/13) (D: Fleder) (S: J. Statham, J. Franco, W. Ryder)

Statham vs. Franco!
Nuff said.

Jason Statham stars in the action film Homefront as an ex-DEA agent who moves his family to the quiet life of a small town, only to encounter a meth gang and its leader, played by James Franco. Winona Ryder and Kate Bosworth co star. Gary Fleder directs for Millennium Films. Sylvester Stallone scripted based on a book by Chuck Logan.

Sounds like something out of the early 90's.

Just read the article about this one. Stallone was originally going to star in but got swamped with other work he gave the role to Statham. Sly just wrote it and produced it.

I'll see it.

Yeah, I'll be watching it too. Statham looks tailor made for this but a part of me wishes Stallone had passed up the lackluster Bullet to the Head and made this one instead.

I think he co-wrote The Strain books with Del Toro.

That's the wrong Chuck. Chuck HOGAN co-wrote The Strain books.

I'm in for anything Statham does but this doesn't feel like a Statham movie. I agree that Stallone starring would have been interesting.

Sounds like it could be interesting. Doesn't sound like a typical Statham film but still could be good.

Saw this tonight. Highly enjoyable b movie elevated by the performances of Statham/Franco/Grillo. Some brutal fights too. Winona Ryder even showed up!

Just finished watching this and it was fucking BADASS! Bloody and violent as hell! They actually used real squibs and practical effects! I don't think a single drop of CGI blood was spilled. The fights were brutal, too.
