Event Horizon - Scenes that were cut
The only film, of which I thought Paul WS Anderson showed any potential of being a competent filmmaker, was Event Horizon.
The theatrical edition was severely cut due to some reason but now the scenes showing "Visions of Hell" are featured in the following website:

A warning though that the pics have nudity and blood-splattering right out of Hellraiser.

Interesting. Looks like they were definitely going for some stronger Hellraiser-inspired gore.
I want that cut. I'd buy it. I wonder if they'd ever go back and release it.
My guess is that those screencaps were released for a reason. Maybe to gauge the appeal and possibility of releasing a full cut?

Re: Event Horizon - Scenes that were cut
There is an inverse correlation between EH and just about all of Anderson's other work. I still can't believe that guy directed it.
I recently read that one of the film's producers found a VHS tape containing the original cut, so there may be some hope that we see that footage. Sadly, it sounds like all the negatives were destroyed, which REALLY sucks.

It's a shame that in the audio commentary of the DVD it was acknowledged that only pictures (and I think some crappy recordings) remain of the lost footage. It seems no one thought to keep the footage for eventual home video releases.
EDIT: I just noticed that islandclaws already discussed this.

Pretty sure all (or nearly all) of those images were in the released film. I'm not sure that additional gore would really add anything to Event Horizon which works best as a creepy haunted house film and goes a bit camp at the end when it dials the blood and guts up to eleven.

Can anybody think of a better example of a filmmaker showing potential early in the career and just devolving into sheer stupidity? Although I have to admit that Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure. I gave up on him after Resident Evil, though.

I honestly think he's an okay director. He just picks and writes really lousy scripts.

I must admit I do enjoy his movies. The RE flicks are guilty pleasures, even if the last one wasn't that great. It's a shame that The Three Musketeers didn't fare too well at the box office. I'd rather he make a sequel to that than another RE sequel.

It's a shame because I think he did show potential, but it's like as soon as he found a niche where he could make money he just stopped trying.

I think he's a lazy director. Resident Evil had so many cheesy moments that could have easily been better from a director that gave a shit. The sequels are full of moments that are ripping off better films and trying too hard to be cool. Milla flying backwards shooting machine guns was a shot lifted straight out of the Matrix sequels, slow motion shots that follow a CGI bullet, I mean it's just sophomoric.

I had to review Three Musketeers and... wow... was that ever an atrocious slice of shit. Waltz deserved so much better than to waste time in that hell.

Waltz did a couple paycheck movies, can't blame him (though I will admit, Michel Gondry is an interesting director even if his movies are generally mediocre.) Seemed like he was fading away pretty quick then Django came out and now he's doing more or less prestige movies (One from Gilliam, Burton, John Hillcoat, Mike Newell (Reykjavik), and the guy that did Syriana).
