Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

For a guy who's made his fair share of terrible movies, Bruce Willis has a pretty good filmography.

Die Hard 1,2,3
Pulp Fiction
Nobody's Fool
12 Monkeys
The Fifth Element
The Sixth Sense
Unbreakable
Sin City
Planet Terror
Lucky Number Slevin
Moonrise Kingdom
Looper

Not many actors of his generation have a resume that stacks up to those films.

He can do whatever he wants. His acting will never break a move nor will it make it.

Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

Although he's become something of a cliche now and tends to play John McClane over and over and over again, when he put his mind to it, Bruce Willis is actually quite a good actor. He gives a hauntingly beautiful performance in Terry Gilliam Twelve Monkeys. He shows serious chops from time to time in other movies too like The Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction, and Looper and even in the first Die Hard when they had a proper director on board and the franchise hadn't devolved into self-parody yet.

Not a great film (could have been better if it focused more on Willis' character), but Willis gives a good performance in a supporting role.

Spoiler:
A top-billed, supporting role apparently.

I'm bored of action movies too, especially those starring Bruce Willis.

Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

Bruce Willis is an amazing actor when he's interested in his roles. And to the poster who said he can perfectly handle both drama and comedy, I agree. (And I actually think he excels as a comedic actor, which is something that probably made me want to work with Kevin Smith back when they made Cop Out - but I always felt the feuding that resulted probably came from Smith casting him in the straight-action role that he almost always gets).

Anyone who ever watched any episodes of Moonlighting knows that he's entirely capable of delivering a good comedic performance. He was also quite humorous as a skerewed version of himself in What Just Happened?

As a dramatic actor, he has also given exceptional performances in The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Moonrise Kingdom, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, Looper, The Fifth Element, and 12 Monkeys. I would be inclined to say that the first Die Hard could belong to this category as well, because the role had required acting-chops that he delivered (before the series, as some mentioned, became all action).

I've always thought he was a fantastic actor -- since seeing him in a few of the films I mentioned above I have considered him an under-rated talent. So many people just want to see him in action flicks. Maybe since he's mentioning to press that he's bored of action movies now, he'll take a break from making them to focus more on trying to get these kinds of roles.

Yup, Emily Lloyd is the lead.

IMO one of Willis' better performances even if it's supporting.

I'm bored of Willis too. Though I liked him well in Looper. Still haven't seen GI Joe 2. Was he boring in that as well?

Maybe he'd be less bored if all of the movies he's been making weren't such colossal shitfests.

Willis, Depp & Downey Jr. should make a film together.

A comedy western.

I've always wanted to see the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin western comedy, FOUR FOR TEXAS, get remade with current stars. It's a film that didn't quite work back in 1963, for various reasons, but it had potential.

I loved Bruce Willis in Moonrise Kingdom. I really do wish he would more films like that. On the flip side, I did enjoy Bruce Willis in Red, but largely because the action seemed a side note in that movie.

Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

Kevin Smith has presented the theory that Willis only seems to care lately when the director of the movie is also the writer - hence his great turns in movies like Moonrise Kingdom, Looper, Sin City, and the M. Night movies he's done, and his less than great turns in almost everything else.

How convenient of a theory from Kevin Smith.

So by that logic, he thinks that had he (Smith) written CopOut, Willis would have been more invested in it. Convenient indeed.

In all honesty, I prefer Willis in the non-action roles because those are the times where it feels as though he actually isn't phoning it in.
