Obviously with colour is so much better.

Yet...all the polish in the world wouldn't help that flick.

They overdid it with the color restoration and missed a point that (the BD to the contrary) Christopher Nolan and Wally Pfister did not retouch the colors of their Batman movies. However, I do agree we should have seen Superman's costume and the movie in full color.

Cool vid. I'd rebuy MoS in an instant if they retweaked the whole film like that.

I would too. It would still be seriously flawed, but I would be very interested to see (feel) just what impact a brighter palate would make to it.
Color works at a subliminal level. Even though we are discussing it and know about it, experiencing the difference is another thing altogether.
My projector has some robust color management settings, but I think the grading that was done on the film was so extreme you need to open up a color program and tweak scenes, and elements within scenes, independently to get the effect that the video does. Dialing back the green and ramping up the saturation likely isn't going to do it.
There was only so much I could do with Badhams Dracula and there was still a huge gulf to be seen when the film finally opens up to it's full natural color in the climax.

We all know wtf the Supes suit really looked like and the film would have been better w/ a color palate that was more natural. I dig that video but it really pushes it too much in some moments too. Granted... it's just a video showing what it could have looked like, using the elements they had.

You could mess your calibration on most HDTVs to Vivid or something similar to make it look cartoonish.

It already does look cartoonish to me. It's hyper stylized with dark crushed shadows and an overbearing green haze infecting all the colors. It's the opposite of natural looking. It looks pretentious and artificially flavored.

And that's what that video looks like. Vivid. Too much of a push. I admire their attempt but it still wasn't a completely thought out thing to do w/ the colors. They needed more restraint.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

HOT RUMOR: Will The Joker Be In 'Batman v Superman'? And Batman in 'Suicide Squad'?

Warner Bros knows Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has to kick off their shared universe of films in a big way. Much more than Man of Steel, the new installment will be as focused on world-building as telling a story. A re-introduction to Batman through Ben Affleck and big-screen debuts for Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and others are all expected to populate DC's roster of movie heroes.

Meanwhile, David Ayer's Suicide Squad has the task of introducing a line-up of villains and anti-heroes, including the first on-screen appearance of fan-favorite Killer Croc and a re-introduction to the Joker through Jared Leto.

This past week, David Ayer revealed his version of the Clown Prince of Gotham, and now we've learned that Leto's presence in Toronto as the Joker will end up serving both films. A few weeks ago I'd heard murmurs of a flashback sequence that had supposedly been added to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where we'd see
Spoiler:
Jared Leto's Joker beating and killing Jason Todd, aka Robin
. I chose to sit on it until there was more information.

... That'd be cool to see. If just to see it.

I have only read it bits and pieces but I never really cared for it. Aside from Todd dying, I thought it was pretty fucking hokey. Anyone read that arc, Death in the Family, as it came out?

I picked it up in a trade a year or so after the single issues came out. I remember comic fans losing their shit when the issues were released tho. A lot of people who bitched about Jason Todd were suddenly upset that he was dead.

Wasn't that one decided upon by a reader poll?

Phone calls, I believe. People would ring in and decide. I think it was close to being 50/50.

It was. There were fewer than 100 votes difference between the yes and no voters.

Denny O'Neil said years later that they discovered someone had hacked a phone to call in over 100 votes to kill Jason. So if that hacker had not done that, Jason would have actually lived... Jason was killed by a hacker...

Someone rigged the poll. Whoever that person was had the number on auto-dial and called it repeatedly. Later down the road, DC took his number out of the equation and the Robin Lives votes out-numbered Dies.

EDIT: Dammit! Beaten to the punch.

I'm fine if they kill Jason Todd if that means the Dick Grayson tombstone was a fake. Honestly I don't think Todd dying will have that much impact though given that most casual fans don't really know who he is more than likely. Most fans will probably just take it as Robin being killed and not know the difference.

I'm pretty sure it's in the movie to show how Bruce/Batman became so jaded with the world.

I'm just saying outside of the impact of the audience seeing Robin killed a character dying that most people aren't familiar with won't have a ton of impact.

Maybe. But it could affect people in seeing how Bats came out of it, knowing who the character is and all.

If that's true that's a lot of backstory to put in considering how crammed the movie is already.

The impact of seeing any Robin killed should have quite a large impact, even if they aren't familiar with the specific Robin wearing the mask at the time. I don't think it matters if people know about Todd or not.

Not really. It could be told pretty easily in a 5 minute flashback. Batman recruits Robin. Robin gets killed. Batman goes crazy (even more crazy than usual). The end.

It doesn't matter who Robin is. It's really just being done to show the impact it has on Batman.

Leto's Joker seems to have some Killing Joke inspiration, so maybe we will see Barbara Gordon get shot and paralyzed too. Jena Malone has been cast in the movie, and rumor is she is supposed to be Carrie Kelly, but personally I believe Barbara is more likely. The actress is too old to play Carrie.
