I voted for The Devils. I'm also very fond of Women in Love, The Music Lovers and Tommy.
Didn't care too much for Altered States or Crimes of Passion, although they were both interesting projects.
I still need to catch up on quite a bit of his work.

I like a bunch of his films even though some of them are over the top. I actually like Crimes of Passion, especially for Anthony Perkins' and Kathleen Turner's (same year as Romancing the Stone) daring performances. If I had to pick one though it would be his masterpiece The Devils.

THE DEVILS.
An insane masterpiece.
And while there's been some progress in getting more of his films on DVD, we're still falling behind.

Lisztomania is downright nutty and I loved it. Portraying the composer Wagner as some kind of nazi Dracula? A ten foot erect penis? Ringo Starr as The Pope? I still can't believe this movie actually exists.
Crimes of Passion is also overlooked. China Blue is my favorite Kathleen Turner role. The only other films I've seen from Russell are Tommy, Salome's Last Dance (which you can stream for free on Hulu) and Lair of the White Worm. All were very entertaining. Still, I'm not quite qualified to vote here. Hopefully The Devils gets a decent release in America one day.
