I hope this is as much fun as the previous two, but I don't know if "gritty" is what this series needs. Wan is more of a dark thriller director, so I am guessing a lot of 2nd unit stuff will be required for the car sequences.

I cared nothing for this franchise till Fast 5. That was a good movie. Would never watch the first 3 again though. Still haven't seen 4.

While four is integral for reigniting the franchise and establishing plot points for five and six, it's by far the weakest entry in the franchise.

4 is slightly better than 3 but that's not saying much. 3 has the edge in one area though, it's at least memorable in how terrible it is while 4 is just utterly forgettable.

2 is a blast, up there with 5 & 6.

It's certainly the most generic, though I'd argue that 3 was probably weaker since it pretty much had nothing to do with anything.

What gave you that idea? All of the stick shifting? Seriously, the homo-eroticism quotient in most action flicks is generally off the scale anyway. And they're pretty much all comedies, it was 5 & 6 that finally embraced with their gleeful disregard for any logic of laws of physics.
