Comedy is a broad definition, like drama. Most movies are either a comedy or a drama, and then they fall into a subcategory or two or three.

4. Old School
5. Big Lebowski
6. Blues Brothers
7. Clerks
8. Animal House

That's the first I've heard of it called that. It's more of a campy, monster/sci-fi movie than anything. Galaxy Quest is close, though. There are funny moments in it, but I wouldn't call it a comedy. Princess Bride ? Again, there are funny moments, but I wouldn't call it a comedy. I don't see how Bad News Bears is a comedy...unless you're referring to the original movie.

And there are a lot of movies listed that I've never heard of, so I can't say one way or another.
This was the reason I made this thread. There are movies that are defined as comedies that I like better than some in my top 10, but they don't necessarily make me laugh more.

It may be DEFINED as a comedy and is a good movie, but it ain't that funny (despite having 2 of my favorite SNL alum in it)

Yes, but DO THEY MAKE YOU REALLY LAUGH? I really don't care how AFI defines, them.

I have always been amazed that a really good sitcom (like Seinfeld or Frasier) will often have more laughs packed into it than most movies that are supposed to be "comedies". I do understand that TV series are already established and the viewer has some background and understanding of the characters and situations already. That has to be built from scratch in every movie, but still, most movies aren't that funny. If you look at my top 10 list, I only list 1 movie in the last 20 years that made the cut. There are a few others, like the Hangover, but most comedies are "romantic" stories or crude humor, the latter only making me laugh very infrequently.
