That was what I was going to say. I'll also say this, which I know is an extremely unpopular opinion, but Cate Blanchett was a bit ridiculous and over the top at Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator. She won an Oscar for that performance, so what do I know. I can only assume Katherine Hepburn was just as hammy in real life.

Disagree. I thought him chewing the scenery during his brief two-to-three scenes in the film were some of the brighter spots of the flick.

You may be right, because the film was so tepid and boring. I did however find him to be hammy in his delivery.

Does every time an actor yell now considered overacting?

Kinda makes you appreciate his performance in Lincoln.

Yeah. Sheen was fine. The character calls for it.

Re: Worst cases of overacting in a film

That Deadfall montage was some weird shit. I thought it was some old 80s film from early in Cage's career but I just wiki'd it and it came out in 1993! And the poster looks like a serious sci-if film.

There is an answer, over-acting is better. If you had to choose, better to see the one with all the energy rather than that other limp dick performance.

I'd like to hijack this thread and throw out the recommendation for the Australian television show Danger 5, which came from the creators of Italian Spider-man.

If that .gif didn't sell you on the show, I don't know what will.

Re: Worst cases of overacting in a film

Well, if cheesy foreign crap is allowed for this, have to have that "worst death scene ever" candidate from some old Turkish movie with the dubbed-in screaming:

Jeremy Irons in "Dungeons & Dragons." He should have given back his Oscar for that turkey.

Agreed, at least based on that example. Irons was gobbling the scenery, whereas whoever the hell that girl was, was absolutely horrendous; an entity incapable of convincing acting.

Yet she got to star in Ghost World one year later.

Re: Worst cases of overacting in a film

Obscure, but the first thing that popped into my head was Richard Jordan in Gettysburg. It's a shame considering it was his last role before he died of a brain tumor at 56. He was supposed to have Jeroen Krabbé's role in The Fugitive.
