Ah! I see. How foolish of her.
She's never come across a Judith Krantz novel or an issue of Cosmo? Seriously, those were more eye-opening for me than most sex ed classes. She's never been curious about the feelings she has?
Um, I admit I believe that, , but we're pretty few and far between.
So naturally, she needs a man in her life to complete her, right? Women alyways need a real actionable, after all, they can be fully-rounded people without that?
So he's like one of the X-Men with mysterious powers which melt social skills?
Sounds like a giant male fantasy, and frankly a retrograde one, which is weird because it was written by a woman.
Guys hit on her all the time, but she's not interested. Everything she knows about sex comes from reading Elizabethan literature.
Not only is she a still a virgin when she graduates from college, but she's never even been kissed.
She's beautiful, intelligent, independent, and has reasonably good social skills.
Those social skills desert her so she can have a meet-cute with the guy, but they come right back again.
Sounds like a giant male fantasy, and frankly a retrograde one, which is weird because it was written by a woman.

She's an incredibly hot woman who doesn't have the drawbacks typically found in hot women. She handles social occasions well. She's up for sex, anywhere, anytime, and she always has an orgasm. She never has had sex with anyone else, so you'll never suffer by comparison. She'll try anything. She has no gag reflex.
How does Mr Grey get this paragon of womanhood? He's a self-made billionaire in his 20s, is ruggedly handsome, and will drop his business affairs instantly to come when she needs him. When she agrees to come to his house, he picks her up in his helicopter (which he pilots himself), flies her to his mansion, dismisses the servants, and shows her a living room that's larger than the whole house she grew up in. The next morning, his devoted manservant drives her home in a luxury car. Oh, and he has problems that only she can fix.

Even though I haven't read the book(s). It is kind of cool to have an (supposedly)erotic movie being released in theaters again. It's like the 1980's and 90's all over again, and since people are so hung up about sex and nudity, and yet violence has gotten increasingly more graphic. It's a nice change of pace, if the film doesn't cop out that is. But then, if the actors have no nudity clauses like most do. It's a big 'why the hell did you take the part?' mystery I've never understood.
So I am curious whether the film's up front with sex and nudity, or sticks with clothed 'sex' scenes and other cop outs while purporting to be 'controversial' and 'daring'.

I predict full frontal from the actress while the guy shows maybe a flash of pubes or a very distant dick shot.

I can't see them shying away from nudity altogether in this, if the book is half as explicit as I've heard, that'd simply be impossible. That said, they'll probably be pretty judicious with the camera angles and such. Like I said, I kind of think the best choice would've been somebody European who could give it a Betty Blue-type of sort of arty-sex vibe.
On another note, that must be uncomfortable as hell for the actors and director. You must have to have a pretty high level of trust in each other to be willing to do scenes like that, and I have to imagine shooting them isn't easy.

Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has finally provided an explanation to why he stopped down on playing Christian Grey in the FIFTY SHADES OF GREY movie. He cites scheduling conflicts and anxiety issues as contributing factors in his decision; the actor made headlines when he landed the role last year and then again when he dropped out just two months later. So what happened?
Talking to Us Weekly he said:
"I wouldn't have signed up in the first place if I didn't want to do it. It was a really, really difficult time in my life. I had already been attached to Crimson Peak for about 14 months, which I said, I was going to do with Guillermo [del Toro]."
On his relationship with director Sam Taylor-Johnson:
"Sam and I just fell in love, creatively, we started talking about this thing and I just felt so excited. I fell in love with the character and started seeing him and becoming intoxicated, which is the way I work: I find a character I love and I start thinking about it all the time."
As crazy as it sounds, Hunnam was playing three different characters during this time:
"I was going to finish [filming] Sons at like 11 p.m. Friday night, get on the plane Saturday morning to Vancouver for Fifty, missing the whole first week of rehearsal and start shooting Monday morning, and I was going to shoot that film, wrap that on the Wednesday and the following Monday I was going to start shooting Crimson Peak in Toronto. I just had like ... frankly, something of a nervous breakdown."
And so two months later, it all came down:
"I just said, 'I can't ... I can't ...,' "To fail on such a grand scale — because Fifty's going to be massive, it's going to be huge. I really didn't want to fail on such a grand scale, and I just couldn't transition from Jax Teller to Christian Grey in 48 hours. It's painful because I loved the character and I wanted to do it. I'm also a man of my word."

^In other words somone talked him out of it because it would have been a huge mistake for his career.

Holy shit does that look awful. Those who are getting dragged to see this and force themselves into thinking they liked it, you brought it upon yourselves.

What's sad is that I have a few friends on FaceBook (all women, of course) gushing over how amazing that trailer is.
By the way, was that Max Martini as the driver? Is he so desperate for cash that he had to stoop to being in this shit?
I still insist that if they actually wanted to make something remotely watchable out of this, they should have hired Paul Verhoeven as director.

Verhoeven would've made this gleefully subversive in some fashion. As it's basically a brand name, I'm sure the studio wants to be judicious about changing much of anything. That said, as I said, I think they should've had someone with a more European flavor ala Betty Blue or Phillip Kaufman or some such, someone who was a little more open about sexuality in film and could shoot it in a more stylish way. But then, I haven't read the book.

I'm not even sure why you guys keep discussing this movie when you're clearly not the target demographic.
