Both women are great actresses but when it comes down to it I find a chick who is willing to take a moustache ride on President Roosevelt hotter. I vote Emmanuelle Riva

Re: Jessica Chastain vs Jennifer Lawrence

Well, looks playing no part for me, Jennifer Lawrence doesn't do it for me as an actress (and I have seen X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games, and Silver Linings Playbook). Zero Dark Thirty was my first Jessica Chastain movie and I was blown away, can't wait until Mama and going back and seeing more of her work. She gives me a Diane Lane/Frances McDormand vibe, two of my favorite actresses. I don't dislike Lawrence, I'll take or leave any movie she's on, but she doesn't excite me to see a movie the way the other three do.

Lawless

for Gator Deb, seek out Take Shelter. She's amazing in that and should of gotten a best supporting actress nod for that and not The Help

I will say that Lawrence has only slept with Magneto (presumably) in the movies, whereas Chastain has bedded Jaime Lannister, General Zod, and Bane. Can't be a good thing.

I think they're both hot, but Chastain is more beautiful, IMO, and she's a better actress.

Marry: Jessica Chastain
Fuck: Jennifer Lawrence
Kill: Kristen Stewart

Chastain has prettier eyes. Lawrence would look more like Ms. Piggy if she gained 20-30 pounds given her puffy cheek bones and eyes structure (puffy upper eyelids).

Good show to everyone who had the good taste, like me, to choose Jennifer Lawrence.

Chastain is the better actress by a hair, Lawrence is better looking.

Both are mostly due to age.

Give Lawrence the same experience Chastain has, and I suspect she'll be a better actress by the time she gets to be Chastain's age. Speaking of age, while Lawrence is plenty pretty, I have a feeling that the years will not be kind to her, and I honestly doubt she'll be as good looking as Chastain when she gets to be her age.

I'm willing to bet given her baby-fat looks now, Lawrence will grow into herself and look even better when she gets older.

Acting : Chastain

Just by a smidget, Lawrence needs to add more to her resumee.

Appearance : Lawrence

Lawrence has a nice shape while Chastain is too damn thin for me and reminds me too much of Julia Roberts.

Re: Jessica Chastain vs Jennifer Lawrence

I think Lawrence's win was more to cement her as Hollywood's new "it" girl. She's pretty, the star of a major franchise, and now has an award to boot. However, look for her to fizzle after her franchise ends. I think Chastain will get another shot soon and wouldn't be surprised to see her win in five years or less. Since she didn't get the award this time, she'll most likely continue to take roles that will increase her chances, whereas Lawrence and her agent will now seek out paydays.

Re: Jessica Chastain vs Jennifer Lawrence

Just like Meryl Streep did after she won the oscar the first time, right?

I'm not saying that Lawrence is to the level of Meryl Streep. I'm saying it's silly to assume that Lawrence will now only make movies for big paydays.

No. The least interesting move Lawrence has done is her "major franchise." Her recognition and career heat have come because of smaller movies. She has shown she has good taste in which scripts she takes ("House at the End of the Street" excepted, which she took when she was just starting out), and that doesn't look to be changing.

Kristen Stewart is the one whose career is going to fizzle now that her major franchise is over.

Wishful thinking? In general, it seems that Lawrence has been fairly adept at picking roles and I'd be surprised to see things change too dramatically from the course she's charted so far.

Re: Jessica Chastain vs Jennifer Lawrence

It's tough to say. Her film career since it started in 2008:

2008 -
The Burning Plain
The Poker Hour
Garden Party

2010 -
Winter's Bone

2011 -
Like Crazy
The Beaver
X-men First Class

2012 -
Devil You Know
The Hunger Games
Silver Linings Playbook
House at the End of the Street*

2013 -
Serena (w/ Bradley Cooper)
The Hunger Games Catching Fire
Untitled David O Russel/Abscam Project (w/ Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams)

2014 -
X-men: Days of Future Past
David O Russell's The Ends of the Earth

Basically any indie Bradley Cooper or David O Russell are doing, she'll be there.

Although it should be noted that "House at the End of the Street" was actually made in 2010 and sat on the studio's shelf for two years.

Re: Jessica Chastain vs Jennifer Lawrence

I read somewhere that Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult split. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future she's dating Bradley Cooper for real. Working together three times in such a short time span can't be coincidence or happenstance.

That said, I've nothing against her, I just love red heads and seeing as how Jessica Chastain is both that and just a few months younger than I am makes her my ideal woman.

I will say that I don't think Lawrence is seeking out paydays, the franchise she has guarantees her that already. However, now is definitely the time for her and her agent to seek some. I recall reading that she has said she prefers indie movies that challenge her, and that Katniss pays her bills. Sounds like the right approach.
