Seems like the top movie should be invalidated by its own admission.

I've seen five also. Nice to see Cosmopolis get a little love for once.

I haven't seen any of them and have only heard of less than half of them. Slanted list, indeed.

I've only seen five of them, and I haven't heard of four of them - but most of the rest are on my "must watch" list.

It includes my number one film of the year, The Kid with a Bike, so I'm happy with it. Even though I usually hate Slant.

I like Slant, they generally go for movies that haven't been done a million times over and I can appreciate that.

Are they pretentious as hell? Absolutely, but if you know that going in, it's no big deal.

While that seems to be the consensus, I actually enjoyed it. Until this list, I thought I was alone.

Oh, I'm definitely all for supporting movies that don't get a lot of coverage and that are different than the traditional Hollywood/indie fare.

There's just something about the "attitude" of a lot of their writers (not just for movies) that I find really off-putting.

Seems more like a Best 25 Art House films of the year. Other then Lincoln & Magic Mike, I've never heard of them. Never seen any of them. Lincoln is the only one I'd consider going to see.

You're not alone. I've seen it twice, and had it not been for all the other 2012 releases to catch up on I'd make it three.

Not even Zero Dark Thirty?

But I still don't understand all this praise for Beasts of the Southern Wild. It was okay.

Nice to see 'Once Upon a Time in Anatolia' on the list. Man that's an excellent film. It should have been considerably higher up on the list.

A lot of docs, most of which I'm planning to see, but not sure the list should be so padded with docs.

Yeah it's good to see a list once in a while that is not from Rolling Stone or Entertainment Weekly.

Many on this list I've been meaning to see.

There are so many great films every year that are outside the Hollywood system and aren't English language films.

I've seen a bunch of them, and mostly agree with the list - I would put The Kid With a Bike and The Turin Horse higher up.

The Color Wheel was terrible.
