In any case, even assuming that we DO we get the OOT out of this, there's still the question of the unaltered versions of THX 1138, Raiders, and American Graffiti, they're probably lost causes too with their rights scattered.

There's tons of information being thrown around here with currently very little concrete evidence for anything. I don't mean that as something accusatory towards and posters who've made these statements, I'd love for them to be right, but I've spent so long looking at the OOT, the aforementioned movies, and the last part of Gargoyles as being about as likely as cold fusion, that I'm admittedly reticent to believe anything at this point. But hey, maybe dreams do come true, we'll see. Fandom is a frustrating thing :-P.

I looked at the copyright information for THX 1138, and it looks like Warner Brothers has full copyright ownership on that one, and American Zoetrope was only the production company. In any case, Lucasfilm is not involved at all, so it's not affected in any way by this Disney deal.
As far as Indiana Jones goes, it looks like Lucasfilm has full copyright ownership on that one, so the "encumbrances" Disney mentioned must be some kind of perpetual distribution and licensing deal with Paramount then. As far as I can tell, Paramount has no copyright interest. That shouldn't preclude Lucasfilm/Disney from releasing whatever versions it wants (through Paramount).

Sources: Lawrence Kasdan, Simon Kinberg Lock Deals to Write and Produce 'Star Wars' Installments
4:41 PM PST 11/20/2012 by Borys Kit
The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX — their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined — and they will also come aboard to produce the films.
Even under a secrecy of a Jedi mind trick, certain secrets — like the plans for a Death Star — can still spill out.
Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have closed deals to write installments of the new Star Wars trilogy, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX — their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined — and they will also come aboard to produce the films.
As THR previously reported, Oscar winner Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3) is writing the script for Episode VII, the first of the new trilogy and the first Star Wars film to be made without the hands-on input of creator George Lucas.
Kasdan and Kinberg would join Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as producers.
Word of Kasdan and Kinsberg's involvement began spilling out on Tuesday but Disney and Lucasfilm are declining to comment. Official announcements regarding the new Star Wars will appear on StarWars.com, according to the studio.
Kasdan is a Lucasfilm and Star Wars vet. He co-wrote 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, still considered the movie series’ zenith, as well as 1983’s Return of the Jedi. He also wrote the screenplay for Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Kinberg is co-writing the new X-Men movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past and was a producer on X-Men: First Class. He is currently producing Cinderella for Disney.
Kasdan is repped by CAA and attorney Robert Marshall at Greenberg Glusker while Kinberg is repped by CAA and attorney Karl Austen at Jackoway Tyerman.

Spoiler:
ABC's Extreme Home Makeover
I know that Star Wars characters have been used before in shows like these but I wonder if we'll see an increase in this type of promotion.

I expect ABC to have Star Wars promotions and tie-ins all the time in the near future. ABC has a serious problem attracting male viewers and Star Wars is one of the best properties to reach that demographic.

So the first new SW thing after the acquisition is a Clone Trooper on Extreme Home Makeover?! My hopes are dashed.
