A guy literally killing hundreds of people and taking living captives close to 50 in number would have everyone and every living thing on his ass.

I thought the acting was terrible, but the rest of the movie kicked ass. The main scene in the club, had everyone in the theater yelling. $6 AMCinema giant screen show, I got my money's worth. Sure, you have to suspend belief, but I had a good time. Also, I had no clue this was a sequel, I read the synopsis of the original, and think I saw it....very stoned.

If you have to suspend too much of your thinking then a scary movie might as well be Scary Movie. Sure, I felt a little bit on edge a few times but for the most part the ridiculousness of the setup and stupidity of most of the characters alleviated most of the fear that one should get from a film like this.

I don't know, I just wasn't going into this expecting believable. I go into this type of movie expecting the same as when I go into a Final Destination or Cube movie: Gruesome, awesome deaths. That's all I want. And torture. It's a perfect movie for what it's supposed to be.

You know what? Fuck suspending disbelief (even though you have to); this was the kind of horror film I've been missing.
It's evident right from the opening that Dunstan & Co. said "fuck it" and decided to make a balls-out, crazy-as-a-shithouse-loon horror movie, replete with traps that would have Jigsaw cribbing notes and one insane scene after the next.
Speaking of the traps, although they're prominently featured in some key scenes, this entry feels less like a SAW clone than the first. I hope they do a third (and with that ending, how could you not?) because the mythology here is simple, but maintains intrigue by only hinting at things rather than the SAW series' approach of "here's 37 min of flashbacks to show you how this all fits together".
Opening scene was pure bliss. Most effective use of a corn harvester other than for its intended purpose.
I love the hotel setting. Allowed for lots of unique sets and great lighting choices. And since you never knoew who (or what) was in what room, or what weapon was concealed where, tension was maintained nicely throughout.
The drugged-out zombies were one of those "fuck it" ideas. Who cares how ridiculous it is?
Lee Tergesen is an actor I've always liked. I had a feeling he was going to get a nice hero moment at the end, although I expected a little more from it.
I really liked the ending because it harkens back to every slasher film ending of the '80s, and the sequel set-up would certainly take things in an interesting, new direction.

Yes. Yes, it does.
I wasn't a fan of the first one really, but this is just so insane that you can't not love what it's doing.

I found it somewhat amusing but didn't love it. I also didn't think that most of the traps were that cool nor do I believe that it would even be possible to put a corn harvester in a club, without anyone knowing and ultimately kill 90% of the patrons with it.

I was a fan of the first film and I enjoyed this one. Thought it was fun and it didn't overstay it's welcome.
That opening scene = in the best way!

Hands down the best movie of last year. While the ending may end on a cliffhanger, it's damn satisfying. It will be a shame if we don't see this trilogy finished.

I just rented this the other day and had alot of fun with it. Definitely a Saw-like movie with gruesome deaths and lots of blood. Surprised there wasn't an Unrated cut.

I thought the first movie was just alright, so I had no real desire to see a sequel. In fact, I am sure that I rolled my eyes when I saw the trailer for The Collection. Turns out, I was wrong to do so because this movie is a damn good time. I cannot believe I liked it so much.

The Woman > Offspring
The Collection > The Collector
There sure seems to be a sudden trend in the horror-movie world where a crappy, obscure film gets a sequel that manages to set off a massive reaction. Are there any other sequels out there to know about? Devil's Rejects comes to mind, but I wouldn't exactly call that one obscure.

If you have the BD, check out the 8mm deleted scene. It runs around 2 and a half minutes and takes place after the end of the movie. I thought it was very cool.
