Al Pacino to play Joe Paterno in new film.
Although I kind of think Seymour Cassell looks more like him.

Actor Al Pacino won't be commanding you to say hello to his little friend in a future cinematic endeavor, rather he'll be tossing around a pigskin.
Deadline New York reports Pacino will play the late legendary Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno in a movie following the rise and demise of a man university students affectionately called JoPa. Built around Joe Posnanski's biography "Paterno," which now tops the New York Times Bestseller list in its second week, the film will show Paterno's reign as "campus deity," then spotlight the controversial Jerry Sandusky scandal, which led to Paterno's termination in November 2011.
ICM Partners is expected to shop the movie package next week. Deadline's Mike Fleming writes, "I don’t often write about projects before they’re set up, but I doubt this one will stay on the market for long."
Pacino may be the perfect man for the gig, as he previously played a football coach in 1999's "Any Given Sunday"—though not one nearly as bathed in controversy as Paterno.

pacino is the best actor who ever lived (yes even over brando) and yet the characters he always plays are really boring ass fucks. once he played a revolutionary war hero even though the movie sucked but props for getting out of the norm.

This sounds more like something I'd expect from a made-for-tv movie. Who wants to see this?
Those who still love Paterno won't want to see him portrayed negatively at all, and everyone else is disgusted by the whole scandal. If it ever gets made and released, I don't see it doing well.

yeah, the only other contendors i can think of are brando and DDL. brando relied too much on good looks and DDL is too "computery" in his method lacking a general humanity. pacino is rather ugly, but embodies the characters to such an extent yet does not appear programmed retaining the balance of having his own natural persona somewhere in there (without just entirely relying on it like the nonactor nicholson).

He yelled in the Insider, when he was on the phone arguing with russell crowe, when he was in the office telling his boss that CBS is selling out etc.
