Will anyone at DVDTalk see The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure?
I wanted to see if it was at any way possible that someone that posts here will see this movie. I'm a prime target for paying to see this movie because I have a three and one year old but I'm going to actively avoid seeing this. If I don't bring it up, my son doesn't have to know about it. I'll tell him about stuff like Paranorman but not this. Fuck this nonsense. I already got to see some shit I don't want to. But we won't be seeing this because I respect myself, my son and my baby. What about you?

But... but... it made an astounding $200K yesterday at 2,200 locations!
If I had kids, The Oogieloves wouldn't exist in our world. However, being married, I've already seen shit that I didn't want to this year (Nitro Circus 3D, Snow White and the Huntsman, This Means War, etc).

Everytime I see the Oogieloves commercial, I get creeped out. I have the same reaction towards H.R. Pfnstf and the New Zoo Revue.

Here is a high quality review from the NY Times: http://movies.nytimes.com/2012/08/29...semityn.seivom
Not sure if it was really written by a 7 year old, but it's a funny read. "I hope you liked your jintonic." "You have kind of a dumb job. Hallie’s dad is a lawyer."

For some reason I've seen the commercials for this about a dozen times. I'm not sure how, since I normally fast forward through all commercials. I'm glad my kid is only 8 months old.

Here you go, Solid Snake. You brought this curse on us all.
Christopher Lloyd is in this! The man invented time travel and he's treated like this?!? And they're encouraging people to get up and dance during the movie. That's like a DVDTalker's worst dream. Except Supermallet's. He's been waiting to get his oogie on for a long time.

No--the movie is the debut of the characters.
AND, IT HAS JUST MADE CINEMATIC HISTORY!
It has made $207 for the weekend per location, pretty much making it the biggest bomb ever.

$207/3 days = $69 per day....
Estimating at $10 per ticket, each screen had about 7 people a day.

When I first saw the trailer, I was expecting some other cartoon or children's character to burst in and blow it up. I totally thought it was some kind of parody, that someone tried to come up with the worst children's movie ever to then come in with a kick-ass trailer. And I waited...and I waited. And then it was over and I thought "Someone made that. Someone thought that was worth making. What is going on in this world?"

I got a "Death to Smoochy" vibe from the trailer and expected the same parody thing...After it was over, I turned to my wife and said if anyone takes their kids to this and let them be taught that it's okay to dance, sing and run around a movie theater during a film...it'll be the final nail in the coffin for me and movie going. It's a movie theater, not Chuckie Cheese!
I loved how Box Office Mojo estimated about 1.5 people per showing. Just for the fun of it, I asked someone I know who works at our local theater and she said that 1.5 was a generous estimate. They bumped it to one showing and increasing showings of "The Avengers."

According to the New York Times, it cost $55 million to produce and took in only $448,000, making it the biggest flop of all time.

How the hell does a film like that cost $55 mil. to make when it looks like a cheap tv movie? Is this some kind of money laundering scheme???
