Wow, shocking to say the least....wasn't a big fan of his but he's kinda like one of those dudes you know even though you never met him.

STFU! I swear some of you here can act like the BIGGEST pussies sometimes!
This isn't tragic. This is simply a fool who jumped off a bridge and killed himself. If he was thrown off the bridge, then I would have sympathy but seeing that he chose to do so, no sympathy at all.
People kill themselves all the time. It's too bad for his relatives that they had such a selfish asshole in the family.
People on this forum mock and ridicule the dead at every turn but if it's someone you know or think you know...OHHHH Don't say shit about them! FUCK THAT! This guy was no different than any other loser who kills themselves. And the sooner you spineless people learn it, the better!
Oh and most of his films sucked!

I hate to say it but my first thought was that something very bad was about to come to light, most likely child molestation charges (or something similar that would destroy his life, career, and family) . Someone with his money and resources wouldn't commit suicide over health issues, not when he wasn't obviously sick to the outside world. He had the ability to stay alive for years even with a terminal disease.

I've actually worked for several years with child predators and have quite a bit of experience with thim after arrest. I'm sure that colors my thinking but was the first thing that popped in my head when there was no news from friends, family, or co-workers about him being terminal. Something like that would get around.

I love The Last Boy Scout.
Technically speaking, it is not a very good movie, but one that I have (and will continue to) revisit many times.

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide
Didn't realize how many of his films I liked. He's not my favorite director, but damn he makes some solid action flicks.
As a kid I really liked:
Beverly Hills Cop 2 (Better than part 1 I say)
Top Gun
Days of Thunder
The Last Boy Scout
As I got older, he still made movies I really, really enjoyed:
True Romance
Enemy of the State
Crimson Tide
Hell, I even enjoyed these, to a lesser extent.
Spy Games
Man on Fire
Unstoppable
Deja Vu
Sad to see a talent go. RIP
T&P to his family.

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide
If he had inoperable brain cancer, I wonder if this was discussed with his family. As someone who has had people deal with terminal/vegative illnesses I'm not going to judge whatsoever. And this whole selfish act, seriously? Terminal cancer is One of those that you get a pass in regards to acceptable suicide

I know.
Twin boys.
Ten years old.
Think about the fact they'll have to remember this for the rest of their lives.
Even if he had inoperable brain cancer, couldn't he have tried to make an effort to live his last days with his wife and sons? Or if the pain is so great that you have to euthanize yourself, do it in a less traumatizing fashion.

Inoperable brain cancer leading to the despair-induced suicide of a husband, father, brother, and talented filmmaker.
LOL-worthy indeed.
