Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide

Awful news.

Thankfully, I saw The Hunger for the first time at last year's horror challenge and was completely blown away by it. Proof that Tony was always capable of having that visionary touch that Ridley (Often) had. But it's still impossbile to ignore the blockbusters that I (And my dad, especially) enjoyed from him.

The suicide is "selfish" line of bullshit always comes from someone who's obviously ignorant to just how badly depression can affect a person.

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide

This seems to be a laugh a minute occurence for some posters but I think this is horrible news outside of a man committing suicide and dying.

I think he was one of the best modern directors at coupling decent story and character with superb action. The Hunger actually hinted at his going down a path equal to Ridley's or even more so character driven and emotionally wrought but he choose otherwise. And he had tremendous success.

RIP Tony Scott

Nice to read. I've pretty much given up explaining this to people. Suicide is very sad and isn't done to spite anyone.

Sad, sad, sad.
Terrible news.

Too many people make comment on suicide without any knowledge about it.
Also what is "=/=" ?

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide

I take back the comment I made earlier and deleted it. It was insensitive to a man who was either tortured by a terminal illness or psychologically.

I'm sad about his passing. Was always a fan of his work throughout the years and his collaborations with Denzel Washington. One of my favorite Tony Scott films of all-time was the greatly underrated Revenge.

I was happy when Tony and Ridley branched out into television and produced shows like Numbers and The Good Wife. Feel bad for his family, especially his brother Ridley.

This is terrible news for his family and film fans. His films had a very unique energy to them, which I've always enjoyed.

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide

Not a big fan of his movies, but it was shocking to hear this news. (I've driven across that bridge many, many times.)

Then I stumbled across this news item:

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2...447/1424/ENT04

Another recent suicide in Los Angeles. Maybe there's something in the air.

Re: director Tony Scott dies in apparent suicide

Not much of a fan of his work, but still have to say that this is sad and unfortunate. Really makes you ponder about how you sometimes think if you were just rich or famous or successful it would solve all your problems, and then someone who has all that still feels so much despair.

Stay classy.

Sorry to hear about this, especially for what his family must be going through. He and Ridley worked pretty closely together, so I wonder how this will affect Ridley's future work and projects.

unfortunately Tim Burton and Spike Lee don't have the balls to do this.
