I think of the LotR trilogy, only FotR stands on it's own. The other too were far too bloated. The Hobbit films also suffer from bloat but mostly ditch the melodrama (that became excessive throughout the LotR trilogy) so they've moved more smoothly for me.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (2014)
I think the problem with the Hobbit and the LOTR movies (which I love, especially FOTR) is that there are not really very good stories at their heart. Tolkien was not a particularly skilled writer or storyteller but a brilliant world creator which gives his stories depth and realism and a tone that suggests that the story is true history in a true world. Jackson captured that in the first LOTR film and parts of the others, and the first 15 minutes of the extended version FOTR is one of the great short films ever made. But Jackson went away from that in the Hobbit moves aside from a couple scenes like the Gandalf/Sauron encounter, and the movies have suffered.

The LotR logo is on the box. So he might not appear.

Here's the description:
Sauron, Lord of Mordor, is recovering his strength disguised as the Necromancer in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy. Now he's getting the Pop! Vinyl figure treatment. Measuring 3 3/4-inches tall, The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies Sauron Pop! Vinyl Figure is ready to terrorize your other Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Pop! Vinyl figures!

I actually think both FotR and RotK offer a lot of story progression, I felt like Two Towers was fluff.

In the end.... the whole damn thing is bloated. Especially The Hobbit films. That's without even watching the EE.

I don't know, I feel #2 really benefits from the extra 25 minutes.

If only Christopher Tolkien found himself suddenly desperate for money and willing to option off the rights to The Children of Húrin and his father's other unfinished works relating to Middle Earth.

They'll always have a place on my shelf and my TV, but they've never quite reached the emotional levels of the original movies. Still, it's always great to be back in Middle Earth and I wish we could get more adventures there.

I heavily doubt
I do think that once all three movies are put together, they will serve as a fitting prequel to LOTR. Not as much for an adaptation of Tolkien's work. However, I do think it is better than the SW PT.

Yeah, I'm on a desktop (Windows 7, using Firefox) and I only have Annotations and Quality when I hit the settings button; no Speed option.
Just checked on Chrome and IE. The Speed option shows up in Chrome, but not IE.
