That's fine and dandy that you love it so but it's just not a good movie. Beautiful looking movie and awesome in its technical nature... but holy fuck is the story shit.

If you guys want to get an inkling of what the director of AC is about then check out Macbeth also with Fassbender and Cotillard. I wasn't necessarily a fan but it's got tons of style to spare. If anything - AC will too.

Same, no interest at all. The trailer music is the least of it's problems (and I liked the Kanye song better)...in no way does this look any better than video game adaptation'. Right down to using the same title font as the games... so boring. It's also possible the film is good and the marketing is ruining it.

Ah. So it's just a literal restart of the franchise for film. There was some hinting from Ubisoft that it was going to be a literal part of the game universe too.
Not a big fan of what they're doing w/ the Animus. I dunno. Seems kind of pointless to have him physically be doing all that stuff while strapped into it. But.. I guess he'll be physically where he needs to be in the real world to kick ass?

That should have been the first trailer instead of the one with the crappy music they initially used. I still think it's box office prospects are very iffy though coming just a week after Rogue One.

I agree on the release date. I think it said January 1st? Doesn't bode well unless Rogue One turns out to be utter garbage - but even, one week after? I'll go under the assumption that the studio does not have faith in the project.

December 21, just 5 days after Rogue One. The holidays do tend to help the box office though, since every day between Christmas and New Year's is basically Saturday for most people. We'll see how AC can fare.

New trailer looks pretty good, though I don't dig the animus look or the modern timeline story. A lot like the game series as well.
I find it interesting that this is being made by 20th Century Fox which also made Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven which was clearly an influence on the look of the first AC game. That movie featured Jeremy Irons as a Knight and Templars, which I remember being an important part of the first AC as well (the first game is the only one I have ever played through to completion). Wondering if maybe there will be some unspoken connections to work AC into the same universe as Kingdom of Heaven. Would be pretty cool IMO.

It seems like every Christmas there's an Action movie that comes out and pretty much dies, -this is probably the one for this year. I say this, but I'm probably going to see it.

Yea... the release date is going to probably break this. Should've moved it.

And the string of poorly received video game movies continue. Maybe the audience reviews will still be decent.

Redemption!
There's really never going to be a well-reviewed video game movie, is there?
Wreck-it Ralph worked because it wasn't about any particular game and told a fun story about video games.
Pixels was utter trash, though.

This was horrible - great cast but NO ONE displays ANY CHARISMA or semblance of character during the entire runtime. The action is lackluster, the plot is incomprehensible and it's just a really dour and dull affair - would it have killed them to make this thing fun? I played the first 2 games and while they had some serious moments, they were a lot more entertaining than this shit. If I hadn't see The Brothers Grimsby, this would be my worst movie of the year - mostly because it had some serious potential with a good cast and Frank Marshall producing....

I thought the action scenes were solid, especially ones that don't take place in modern day settings.
Other that (and some rad costume decisions for the Creed) the film is pretty incoherent.
It bugged me quite a bit to see the visual choice to constantly switch from modern day to memories during fun action scenes.

I honestly thought this wasn't as bad as the reviews say. It's certainly got its flaws...there's virtually no humor, and it's a drab and dull looking picture with the gold, blue, and grey filters...alot of mediocre CGI...but it has the best cast for a videogame movie ever and the action scenes (specifically the choreography) were not too shabby.
This is way better than any of the Resident Evil movies, and probably ranks somewhere alongside Silent Hill for me among videogame movies.
Give this a grade of C
