I want to see him bring back that jarring visual style and the Eric Serra score.
He's also one of the few filmmakers who is not afraid to feed you a lot of information indirectly. And maybe it makes more sense after a few viewings. Most directors insist on looking at a scene and making sure that everyone understands what's happening, directly, first time around, the viewer can't get lost. So they'll pad a scene with call backs, insert shots, exposition. But in The Professional and The Fifth Element, the information is thrown at you fast. And if you don't get it the first time, maybe you will the second or third time.

As a movielover, Luc Besson was a big deal to me. And it was heartbreaking when he said that he wasn't going to direct movies anymore. I was on board with his production company's movies for awhile, but they just didn't grab me like his movies (Nikita, Leon, 5th Element, The Messenger) do.

My favorite of his is The Big Blue. A film that shouldn't be that good, and has a lot of flaws, and yet I really enjoy watching.

Neat! My ass will be in a seat.
I wish Besson would do another Adèle Blanc-Sec movie.

The visuals are stunning. I will be there opening weekend.
But good god. Give me a break on using popular vocal music in movie trailers. That spoiled the trailer a bit for me.
Hopefully we will be spared a ton of vocal music in the movie itself.
I am praying that Suicide Squad's musical choices do not influence SF Fantasy films of the future.

Damn, that looks really cool. Basically another story in the 5th Element universe based on looks alone. I will check it out.

Fuck me in the ass and call me Mariana del Sol.
I'm much more game for this movie than I was before. And I was already game like a motherfucker.

Tough sell... I'm definitely interested, hoping it's a return to form for Besson. International $$$ is going to have to carry this thing.

I was very impressed with the trailer I saw before Fantastic Beasts. I think Besson and the Wachowskis should collaborate one day, but my brain might explode from visual overload.

Very good actor, she is. Love her look. Not so much of the processed look either. Nice to see someone w/ normal eyebrows for the most part. While I didn't care for her in Suicide Squad.. cuz it was a mediocre in many forms. I did like seeing her play Dr. Moon though. Not so much Enchantress after she joins her brother.

STX will be distributing this in the US, apparently the budget is around $180m and releases on July 21st.

The title isn't going to help it either. First thing that comes to mind when I hear that title are movies like Percy Jackson.

If they dropped the Valerian title I think they'd be fine. "City of a Thousand Planets" sounds a little kid oriented, but also sounds appropriately Sci-fi.

Yeah this maybe will make budget back in US if reviews are good, but it will be huge overseas.
