Favorite Watergate Film

In celebration (if you may call it that) of 40 years since Watergate, I would like some suggestions for any films that reference the break-in. Of course, my favorite is "All the Presidents' Men".

What are some other suggestions?

P.S. I have a detailed summary of "ATPM" http://www.film-matters.net/2012/06/...to-dazzle.html

Thanks!

Dick was good. I honestly didn't know that was Michell Williams. Haven't thought about this movie in a while.

Nah. I'll take any genre. I'm just glad to hear that's so much "Dick" love.

There is way too much Dick in this thread. Another vote for All The President's Men.

If Nixon counts, then that is the choice, such a shame it didn't get more acclaim.

Agreed. That's a close second on the Watergate list for me.

You mean other than its nominations for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Score, and Best Original Screenplay?

Re: Favorite Watergate Film

At the time it was seen as just Stone going through the motions with a JFK repeat.

Re: Favorite Watergate Film

Hardly a JFK repeat, since JFK wasn't a biopic about JFK.

THE PRIVATE FILES OF J. EDGAR HOOVER (1977) basically ends with Watergate.

Never saw Dick and have seen the poster but not closely since watching Dawson's Creek, so count me among those surprised to see Michelle Williams in it

Re: Favorite Watergate Film

Of those mentioned, I'd still have to say "All the President's Men" because it holds up so well. That said, Frank Langella was masterful in "Frost/Nixon." Have never seen "Nixon," so it goes on my watch list.

Do CHINATOWN and THE PARALLAX VIEW count? I'm of the mind that Watergate provided the impetus for a number of conspiracy thrillers. In fact, on the day I saw PARALLAX VIEW, Aug. 8, 1974, I came out of the theater and stopped at a newsstand to see the headline, "Nixon Resigns."

No kidding. Now that's an interesting story. Nowadays, people would get the message on their Iphones and interupt the movie with the phone glares.
