If that's the style of soundtrack, count me out, otherwise it looks solid.
I'm a quiet defender of the style of the 70s adaptation that had great casting for Nick (Sam Watterston) and Jay (Robert Redford), but was an otherwise rushed adaptation.

let's embed a trailer:

I never read this in class. I was about to but then switched teachers and the newer class had already read it so...I never got to read it.
Taking it solely on the premise, actors, etc. It's visually very pretty, but I was disappointed by Australia (how dare BL use CG environments when he had that beauty of Australia..). Never was a fan of Romeo and Juliet, though I thought it was good but too much visual perhaps. Moulin Rouge was gold for me.

When I heard about this project last year this was my first thought. Funny considering that the early season threads of Entourage were comparing Vinny Chases career to Leo Dicaprio's and now, we have this.
Looking forward to this. Never got a chance to read the book either but I might bang it out real quick in a few weeks. I can see how stylistically it's not for everyone but I think it looks great. The 3D should be interesting.

I dunno. Baz owe's me money after Austrailia. But anything with Carey Mulligan gets some free points imho.

Aside from Claire Danes being miscast as Juliet, Luhrmann's R+J (if that's what you're referring to) is fucking genius. Perhaps I'm biased because I teach Shakespeare to teenagers, but that film is probably the best example of illustrating Shakespeare's timelessness and to a young audience. And I LOVE Harold Perrineau as Mercutio and John Leguizamo as Tybalt. One of my all-time favorite films, in fact.
Hoping Gatsby is as impressive.

Still, it's good to see Conan O'Brien getting serious acting work.

Might have to see this for the visuals. Three sheets to the wind of course.
I've read the book and have to say, it didn't work for Robert Redford, it won't work for DiCaprio, especially if he's trying to impersonate Redford.

Looks like "Ziegfeld" is spelled wrong in the movie (you can see it twice in the trailer). Unless it's INTENTIONALLY spelled wrong for legal reasons.

Didn't like the soundtrack for the trailer. The opening party scene looks cool but agree that the overall film looks too fantastical. Like a Lady Gaga roaring 20s themed video.

I've noticed this from WB in the past...what? 7-8 years? What is it w/ them really liking that specific type of look to some of their films? Eastwood does it A LOT...too much for me, again w/ WB. But WB for sure likes that type of image. I approve of it for this film and some others (The Aviator comes to mind) but WB...needs to calm down w/ it, lol.

I'm talking about that vintage look. A specific color timing, palette, and correction giving it an "older" look in this case. Eastwood did it as well for some of his WB films. Seems to be very popular at WB in a coincidental manner.
